This place is such a wonderful piece of Parker County history! Originally a home for widows and orphans, the Texas Pythian Home now is a safe harbor for foster children. My parents were dorm parents back in the late 70's. My dad was also their ranch foreman! Too bad the state doesn't allow them to keep a working ranch anymore, I know it taught many kids a lot of responsibility and helped them to have life experience in possible future careers.
We had a lovely visit at Christmas at The Castle. Its nice to see how they have maintaines the home and have even set up a tiny museum to preserve historical objects...
