I’ve brie‑lieved in cheese heaven until I visited Vin au Fromage—and boy, was I gouda impressed! Walking through the door, I was cheddarfy struck by how delightfully fragrant the shop smelled—peppery, smoky, utterly un-brie-lievable. The staff were grate, walking me through their curated selections with expertise and charm.
From their house‑made Jambon Raclette sandwich to their crème‑de‑la‑cream burnt Basque cheesecake, every bite was a feta‑stic experience.
Dan McElligott’s selection of cheeses—from nutty Comté to tangy clothbound cheddar—is clear evidence that this place takes cheese very gouda‑ly.
Tasting events and wine pairings led by Howie Rubin are perfect for those who want to wine and cheese, a little differently. Their wine and spirit collection “speaks for itself”: small producers, rare regions (Greece, Hungary, Georgia), all thoughtfully chosen. I found my new favorite bottle in the display, and the team helped it pair‑fectly with a wedge of pungent blue.
The ambience is as special as the fromage. Climb the grand staircase and you’re greeted by a stunning chandelier—making you feel like you’ve mozz‑arrived in Europe. The space upstairs is perfect for sipping, noshing, and soaking in the charm.

Read moreYes, Vin Fromage is a superb wine and cheese shop, but it is so much more. My first reaction when I saw the outside of the shop was that it would fit right in on a country road in rural France. I went directly up to the second floor to get a closer look at the gigantic wrought iron and glass wine themed chandelier and got caught up studying the collection of olive oils, chocolates, cheese knives, udon noodles, cutting boards, pasta, coffee, and a hundred other carefully curated treasures. The artwork, furnishings, even the storage cabinets, were well thought out and added to the charm. All that before descending to the main level, where I was educated about cheese by Dan McElligott, was able to taste a few delicious French and local samples, and chose some to take home. Marc and Maria, the owners, have thoughtfully designed and created a delightful addition to Main Street. Whether you are a wine connoisseur, a tee totaler, or somewhere in between, visit Vin Fromage for...
