Went tubing on the Delaware with these fools today. Before arriving they insist you sign a lengthy waiver (standard) but still do not allow you to bring alcohol on the river. In addition to your tube ticket, you must pay for EVERY add on even including a rope to tether your tubes together. When you get there the line to check in takes forever because it seems they donât have a cap for how many tickets they sell for each time slot. Next youâre told to pick from a selection of old life jackets which all smell like vinegar and vomit. After that, a 17 year old boy gives you a stern 20 minute talking to about obvious doâs and dontâs on the river. Finally we shuttle to the river where you get to fight others for the tube you want and wait ALMOST AN HOUR on a line to actually get into the river because they insist on checking every cooler for glass/alcohol. By the time we got in the water we didnât even want to be there anymore. I donât know who in their right mind would leave this company a...
Read moreExcellent location along the river. One of the few (only?) bike rental shops that are right on the bike path so no need to ride along a busy road to get to the path. The price was fair but the bikes do not have baskets so thatâs a bit of an issue if you have âstuff.â My companion and I got two bikes: one with a squishy seat and one with an old school standard seat. We agreed that the standard seat was awful but the squishy seat was fantastic. The standard seat bike was also horribly difficult to ride and my companion, who is in excellent shape, was exhausted and unable to keep up with me. It wasnât until we switched bikes and then I couldnât keep up with her that I investigated and found that the kickstand was rubbing against the tire, making it very difficult to ride. It was a bummer and a waste of our time. Perhaps the people at the shop should have seen that or at least tested the...
Read moreWhat a gem! We had an incredible experience at Big Bear Gear. Went in with the plan to rent a kayak but didn't think about the transportation piece. No biggy! We were offered bike riding as an alternate activity and were so happy that the day took that turn. Beautiful views riding through the D&R path, surrounded by the river and the canal. Bikes rode great and we wished that we could ride all day long. Went back to return the bikes and the store is just amazing. We got a ton of goodies, including new dresses and shoes, books and toys for our daughter... The employees were delightful, helpful and great to chat with. Can't wait to return with...
