Russellton Shop 'n Save — Local services in West Deer Township

I went to Shop and Save to get salad dressing for my salad at work. I went to the produce section and chose a bottle of strawberry poppy seed salad dressing. I got back to the office, tried opening the bottle of salad dressing and I could not open it. I took the bottle to a co-worker who was able to open it after much struggling and when he opened it the dressing inside oozed out from the top like a volcano.... lava from a volcano. He had it all over his hands. I put it in the trash can right away and took that bag back to Shop and Save to get another one. The young girl that greeted me when I walked in told me I could go back and get another one, which I did. All of them were expired February 24th 2024. And on that day it was March 5th or 6th. I can't remember the exact date right now. So I took the remaining two bottles up front to let them know that they had expired and the other cashier said "that's just a Best Buy date it doesn't mean it's expired". I told her I was not going to exchange for another bottle of that kind because all three of the bottles expired February 24th 2024. I usually find what I want at a good price. The stock people and people who work in the food departments are friendly and helpful,but the cashiers are a different story. In general they are smug and unfriendly. Often they are not at their registers and you don't know which one to go to. When they approach you they tell you where to go as if you should know already, and rarely smile or answer you in a nice way to. Just today I found nobody at the front end at all. Then only cashier around was back in the office having a personal phone conversation. I literally had to call out to ask if anyone could help me. The woman on the phone said she'd be out in a minute, but no effort to be apologetic at all. This is consistent with the conditions or attitude I am greeted with almost every time. There is a younger girl with blonde hair who is friendly, attentive and also does a good job who is not the subject of the review. If this store didn't have the merchandise I need for these prices I would give them just two stars because of the lousy demeanors and ethics on the front-end. My spouse won't even shop there at all for...

It's a little store. But, when there's nothing else around (besides a DG up the road) it's a staple in this community. When I stopped, it was a little busy. Only 2 cashiers open. And that's how it was last time I was there. So, it's not a place to go if you're in a rush. If you were expecting to see the 'what used to be typical Shop n Save pricing', you'd be disappointed, as I was. I thought Giant Eagle was expensive! This place's prices sadly, were almost just as ridiculous. But, it is clean and bright. The cashiers were friendly. They also have a self-serve microwave handy, so if you purchase something and want to warm it up, you could. They also have a deli. I forgot to notice if they had a bakery or not. I will visit this store in the future. I'd rather give my money to a store that's been in a community for 40+...
