I used to have recurring dreams that a giant arcade with nothing but crane games would one day show up in my hometown. I probably imagined it popping up in the old Century III or some remote corner of Kennywood, but since then, truly enjoyable crane games have only become more fleeting. I feel like a lot of kids have these dreams, dreams of all of the things we could ever want, showing up right in our back yard. They're nice dreams, but they're just dreams.
This weekend, I learned that my dreams had quite literally come true with the Get a Grip clawcade, RIGHT in West Mifflin, and I still can't get over it. Not only do clawcades exist, but one has opened up in my childhood hometown, and it has somehow managed to completely blow arcades like Dave & Busters and Round1 right out of the water. I can only conclude that someone with more business sense must have had my same dream and decided to make it a reality.
You'll always leave feeling like you got your money's worth, and that's almost unheard of by modern arcade standards. This arcade is not just winnable, it is FUN, and the point system will always leave you satisfied with your prize. Whether you play crane games for the plush prizes or just the thrill, you have the option to turn some or all of your plush in for points at an amazing prize wall filled with gaming and anime merch that would put Hot Topic to shame. These folks are amazing, the arcade they've set up is amazing, and they deserve all of...
Read moreHad the most amount of fun I had in awhile.
Won something on my second try. Then, I started winning more and more.
First lap around, I already had almost a full basket.
The second Lap around I went back and won the ones I failed at the first time.
The experience started kicking in and using the double tap to close the claw early really helped to get most of them.
I'm 26 and I had such a blast going around with my mom.
It's also not rigged really at all with all the machines too.
Just got to know what's possible and if you fail 2 times. Move on to the next. After your first lap. Go back around and try again.
It might be in a better spot than it was before.
The staff was very nice, I've never had a wing man before. But how they would appear to even the odds really made me feel I should have a wing man more often.🤣
I've played a lot of claw machine and these had to have been the most fair out of them all.
I've won a total of 23 and gave 2 to my sister and nephew and 1 to a kid who was trying to win one.
There was a birthday party there when we went.
And it's funny because my birthday is in a couple of days from this review. We celebrated it a little early.
It was all in good fun and that’s the most important.
GREAT PLACE,...
Read moreI took my two kids (9 and 13) here today, and we had a lot of fun! We spent a little over an hour in the arcade, playing and picking prizes. With the $50 package of tokens, we got a wheel spin that won us 10 extra tokens. Each machine is only 1 token - with a couple 2 token machines containing name-brand toys. In total, we won 15 large stuffed animals from the claw games and 8 smaller prizes in the short amount of time we were there. The machines are fair.
The trade-in reward system is great. Each prize from a claw machine is worth a "ticket," and you can trade them in for prizes that range from around 3 to 16 tickets (or you can just keep what you won). The prizes are nice: keychains, anime-related items, some smaller kid toys, and lots of large squishy plushes.
I saw a set-up for parties which I think would be fun for an arcade-loving child. It is a nice, small place to stop for a short time with kids of all ages (and it was equally fun for me!). I'll recommend this place to friends and family, for sure, and definitely...
