Went here planning to pursue a future career in photography or business. They had switched my advisor about 3 times before I met with someone who actually told me there are no photography degrees available. I inquired about doing a business degree, but no one seemed to want to answer my question. So, I asked about doing a graphic design degree - they don't offer that either - so I was put into a Web Design major. I was totally fine with web design since I would also be able to take graphic design classes; however, I was told by my advisor that this was an associates degree designed for me to get a job right after graduation. It was not that at all - in fact, it was a transfer program designed for me to complete 4 years of school when I made it very clear I only had enough money for 2 years of Montco. After numerous attempts to contact my advisor or really anyone that could assist me with changing majors, I gave up and decided to continue with this pointless Web Design major. I then realized there were about 5 classes I had to take as prerequisites that were not listed on the original course plan, which would set me back about 2 semesters because a majority of the classes were only available in the spring. After completing the spring semester and signing up for summer classes, I still had not taken a single class that deals with web design. In addition, there was no food available for students to eat during the summer. All vending machines were emptied, and the cafe was shut down for the semester. During the first week of the semester the vending machines were full and I inserted a $10 bill to get a couple snacks since it was the only money I had. The machine ate my money and never gave me any food - after asking multiple people to help me, they shrugged at me and told me to go get food elsewhere. My mom found an amazing school, The Lansdale School of Business, that offers a Graphic Design diploma program that is exactly what I wanted. I went there for a meeting about 2 weeks ago, told them about my issues at Montco, and they assured me that I was not alone. I officially dropped out of MCCC today and am so happy that I'm finally starting the education that I need, despite being out about $4000 because of taking classes that didn't even transfer. Also, to this day I still have not received my student ID. Every time I go to College Hall to get a new one, they send it out and I get an email about 2 weeks later saying it was "returned to sender". Both my father and uncle went here many years ago and didn't have these problems, so something must have changed to make this place...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you are planning on going to Montco, especially if you are going into anything health or science related, DO NOT GO. I have been at Montco for two years and their science department is absolutely awful to deal with. Don't even try to take BIO121 online because Ms.Hays was god awful and rude. Professor Dickinson is the only professor that actually made it interesting and helped but wasn't able to pass because of Montco straight up telling me I don't have any issues while they sat there and watched me struggle with this one class. If you also have any sort of disability, I have ADHD, well they don't care about that either. I had to fight with the disability center for year to even get help because they kept telling me that "I had to have a year of ADHD testing done to be able to get accommodations" when I am on medication for it. And because I was "taking to long" because their lack of effort to help me academically, the college tried to take away my financial aide which I was able to appeal. Don't even try to call their customer Service lines either because half of the people that have answered, I did get one helpful one, don't know what they are doing either. This college has really disappointed me, and really regretting ever spending the time and money here. They have caused me so much emotional and mental distress over ONE class and again, do not recommend especially if you are going into the science or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis school is garbage. They only look at you as a dollar sign. I made an appointment with an advisor after having a five year hiatus from school. I told the advisor what I was looking to do in life, and instead of helping me, she spent less than five minutes with me and then passed me onto other students at the college to sign up for classes. Waste of time. Then i tried to change my name to my married name and the lady at the front gave me major issues and major attitude. I handed her the correct paperwork and my I.D. with my married name on it. The only thing she saw was that my address on my I.D and my address on the computer didnt match. My I.D still has a phila address on it so she thought I was trying to scam the system to get the montgomery county rate instead of phila rate. So she started smerking at me and saying that my I.D was invalid. I have been military for six years and have lived in four different houses and I finally recently settled in montgomery county. I wadnt trying to play the system, I just wasnt going to change my I.D after every move. Very Rude. Also, if you are a veteran, good luck with the veterans department here. I Tried to use my Tuition Assistance Benefits and had 0 luck. They have no idea what the hell to do. I ended up having to withdraw from classes because they couldnt figure out how to get...
