Fantastic course for the price. All of the tee boxes have been redone and are now open. This course has had atleast $5 million invested into it since new ownership has taken over. I personally love paying for a course that is actively trying to make it better each year.
The roughs and area around the trees could use some work but the fairways are crisp, greens are consistent and well kept, and the tee boxes are now level and in fantastic shape. If the roughs on certain holes aren't in the best condition, don't hit the ball there 𤪠That is the next improvement over the next year or so I'm being told and I believe it with all the other work they've completed
I've seen previously reviewers complain over construction during the fall season with the tee boxes, the cashless bars, and so called rude customer service. The course literally has signs as you drive in saying course is under construction with "new exciting changes underway" Many businesses are going cashless from sporting events, to bars/restaurants due to theft and also not having to stop at the bank to complete deposits. Shocking to me someone has a $20+ cash but not a credit/debit card or apple/android pay on phone. Also, Brian (manager) and the staff are more than accommodating and will call you by name after going there a few times. very personable group of guys there. Its pretty easy to deduce the type of person who has ticky tack negative reviews of the place.
You'll be hard pressed to find a course in south jersey that is as nice for the price and a leadership team that is actively trying to make it better which means you may see a tractor in the background from time to time improving the grounds. I'd put this course up against any public ground in the area at this price point including golfcart
I've played courses from your local muni courses that charge $45+ without a golfcart that have greens that havent seen a roller in 4+ days to being guests at private courses that cost $35k+ just to join, Kiawah Island and several TPC courses. There are always groundskeepers working on the course at all times for the most part at those places. High end courses require high end maintenance that can't be completed when golfers aren't golfing. I'm not saying pinelands is high end but no one should be complaing over groundskeepers working on the course while play is happening.
I became a member this year after the excellent price point and experience I received while...
Read moreTerrible terrible terrible customer service!! I played this course a few weeks ago paying full price only to find the course completely under construction. EVERY tee box was temporary. Some of which shortened the holes by 150 yards or more. The par 5 9th was a 115 yards with a temporary green. While I am pleased to see this course making so many improvements, to ask someone to pay FULL price and not even tell them about the temporary tee boxes and construction is completely unfair. There is no warning about the conditions on their website, no signs in the pro shop, and no warning from the cashier or starter of the conditions. I tried to file a complaint with the Assistant pro Mason, who was rude and condescending, and he told me that they had sent emails out to those on their contact list about the conditions. I suppose those not on the contact list just have to guess about the course conditions. Still unsatisfied, he directed me to contact the Head Pro Brian Bakic, who I later learned was standing right behind me. I sent Brian two emails with my concerns and expressed to him that I felt taken advantage of. Zero response from Brian. I am an avid golfer and a supporter of my local courses. But my time has value and I do not like to be taken advantage of. Pinelands is slightly above mediocre, but Mason and Brian act like it's Trout National and we should have been thankful just for the opportunity to play there. I hope they put the same effort into improving customer service as they have...
Read moreI recently came to play on a weekday afternoon in late December and was disappointed by the experience (or lack thereof). I booked a late tee time (after 2pm) to play 9 holes with my father-in-law and my 9 year old son on an unseasonably warm day. Upon checking in, I was quickly informed that we would not be allowed to play as my father-in-law was wearing jeans. I asked if an exception could be made considering the circumstances. My senior father-in-law had traveled in for the holidays and did not bring golf pants, not to mention the tee time was after 2pm in the winter (booked purposely so as not to cause a nuisance with slower play), but I was told that absolutely no exception could be made. Ultimately I should have known better and planned accordingly, but I did not expect this from Pinelands (not Pine Valley) given the situation. The experience left a bad taste in my mouth, and I am somewhat of a regular, having played here many times over the past few years. I've spoken highly of the club and all of the improvements being made (including paving cart paths in 2024) and have recommended it to friends. I'm not sure I'll be doing that so much now. I understand that the owners/management of the club have a vision for the experience they'd like to cultivate, but I would have hoped they'd be able to appreciate nuance and the opportunity to extend grace in a situation like mine. Anyway, we went down the road a few miles and enjoyed a great afternoon golfing...
