Haven't been in a few years but some of my best childhood memories were hiking too Mt. Baldy Peak with my grandfather. After marrying my Grandmother they bought the first house together about half way up the mountain only to have it get washed away in some devastating flood that happened in the late thirties or early forties. He loved to take me up to where his old house once stood and search for the few long lost trinkets that we could find from his first house with his one and only wife and and live off his life. I always felt so lucky he was willing to share the story of such a difficult time in their lives with me. One detail I'll never forget is my grandmother telling us grandkids about how she almost drowned when the house got washed away and she somehow got washed down some concrete culvert and managed to pull herself out of the rushing water and having to walk up to the road to find help. So many memories up on the mountain. A gorgeous place for anything from a day hike to a through hike down to Lytle Creek Rd. So close to busy about anywhere in socal also. Very...
Read moreI wish people would leave reviews for the rental shop talking about the resort instead. I rented a board and the bindings were much too big for the boots they gave me. Fully tight, my heel would lift more than an inch off the board. When I was getting my rental (before I knew there was a problem) a woman came in and complained to them about her board bindings being the wrong size for her boots. I didn't think to check mine to see if I had the same problem--but I did. I didn't discover the problem until I had walked up the hill to the top of the run down to chair 2, put on my board and started down the hill. To make matters worse, the edges were horrible. The best parts were dull; the worst parts were literally rounded off. Don't ski Baldy without your own equipment. Edit: I went back for a second try a month later (skis this time) and they were fine, so I'm revising my review upward a little. Mt. Baldy also responded to my review of the resort overall and said they would be upgrading their rentals for the...
Read moreI'm not a skier, went for the tubing fun, it's close and we were there for only a few hours. It's fun and there was plenty of snow. At the restaurant there, I had the turkey, bacon, and cheese sandwich. It was good and a nice size. The potato salad was also good, and the pickle was extra crunchy. My husband had their signature burger, he enjoyed it, my niece had the pulled pork and she enjoyed it also. My niece's boyfriend had the tri tip sandwich, he finished it and said it was good. It was all fresh, it was busy there. Today and the last time we came they were having supplies delivered. It has an "A" rating for...
