Completely different from what I expected. Top of the Notch sounds like it will be fancy, but it's actually a bar and a drag-your-tray-along-the-rails cafeteria. Not that there's anything wrong with that - it just surprised me.
Inside was really smoky (one of the staff was telling someone she had to leave the kitchen so she could breathe), fairly run down and ordinary looking. I had a black IPA beer from the bar which was good (they had some good non-standard beers, so that's a plus). We tried various things from the restaurant including chilli dogs, burgers and chicken fingers (which were actually more like whole breasts - huge). They were all about as good as you'd expect, nothing fancy, but good enough. A little more pricey than you'd get at sea level, but when you at the top of a $25 lift ride and the only place to eat in sight, you can pretty much charge what you like!
The staff were really nice and the view is great. A fair proportion of the customers were obnoxious douche bags, but what can you do about that? Nothing really and it isn't the fault of...
Read moreLots of fun! I usually hike up but the road was closed so we got rerouted. Took the chair up, had a great night of dancing. Craic House rocked the place. If you are expecting anything but camping food you will be disappointed. “Good” food for that!!!! Hard to feed that many people all at once and have everything perfect. Potato wedges are the best😊
We slept in the tent cabins. Enjoyed the fire for a bit before heading to bed which was really nice. Cabins were great We did pick a cold night so we will be better prepared next time. $200 for lift ticket for 2, 2 dinners, stay in cabin and continental breakfast.
Entire staff was so great, cant say enough about how pleasant everyone was they were accomodating us along the way and it made the experience a great one!
We will keep...
Read moreThe food (at least, what I tried) was OK at Top of the Notch. I visited for lunch on a Saturday around 1:30 PM, and it was quite crowded. There were barely any places to sit inside, but that speaks more to there being a weekend crowd (and that's not the restaurant's fault). I ordered the El Diablo Burger and Soup of the Day (I ordered corn chowder, and it comes with a garlic bread roll). The burger was big, but the patty was on the dry side. It did come with french fries, and those were decent. Nothing really stood out about the corn chowder, but it was OK. The views outside Top of the Notch are amazing, especially when there is snow! Overall, Top of the Notch is a serviceable eatery. The staff are nice and try to keep things moving, the food is OK, and the...
