If you’re in the High Desert area and want to get away to relax and disconnect, then choose Wrightwood Getaway. They have multiple cabins to fit your taste and group size. I wanted to try out their Rustic Retreat because it was the oldest, 10 min walk to the downtown area via walking, and it was my first time in a cabin. This is just my personal preference, I think I would prefer modern decoration. If you want real cabin decoration, then choose the Rustic Retreat. Even though it is the oldest cabin it provided all essentials like portable and central heaters, sink, basic kitchen equipment, coffee maker, microwave, stove, oven, Smart TVs, and more. We were able to watch Hulu and Crunchyroll. We saw some previous customers bring their own consoles to play video games! The leather couches were so comfortable. My partner and I took naps which we haven’t done in a while. Our pup started to get comfortable with the cabin and would sploot on the floor.
Please make sure to read their guidelines on staying at their well maintained cabins. I was concerned about the septic tank systems, but it wasn’t bad. The less than 10 minutes shower was not bad either. I just wanted to shower quickly to get back to relaxing. The shower gets hot fast too.
They have an awesome guide ready for you to know what to do during your stay, are responsive to any questions, and lets you know of any additional neat things to do during your stay. We went to the local eateries. One of the places we had to go to was their local brewery. It had a wonderful view! I recommend that you stay when the farmer’s market happens because they have vendors who sell baklava, honey, fruits, smashburgers, tacos, and more. It would be good to stock up on these foods because the closest market is expensive due to convenience.
If you have furbabies, they have accommodations for that and are used to pets, because they’re also pet lovers. This is a big plus for me and my partner because we are not ready with leaving our pup alone overnight with daycare. Be sure to bring their crate if you plan to wander off without them. We had to leave our pup alone when we got food during a light snow, we did not want her to get too cold outside. We are usually prepared with stuff, but I wanted to take my partner to Wrightwood as a surprise birthday gift and we were so excited with getting to the cabin that we forgot to make sure our pup was relieved. New pet owner mistakes! She accidentally went on the carpet and we did our best to clean it. Wrightwood Getaway didn’t make us feel uncomfortable with the situation. I guess whether a furbaby or human baby, accidents happen! However, if you have noisy pets who want to follow you everywhere, be sure to plan how to use the bathrooms because my 12 lb pup was able to nudge her way through the bathroom sliding door! She is also able to fit through some of the stairway poles, so be alert when your small pups walk around there, otherwise they might slip through!
From my staying experience, I am looking forward to another getaway at...

My family and I recently spent three wonderful nights at Knotty by Nature, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped by the serene and relaxing environment that Wrightwood offers. The breathtaking scenery, with its majestic mountains and crisp, fresh air, set the stage for an unforgettable family getaway.
The cabin itself was a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. It was cozy and well-equipped with all the amenities we could have hoped for. From the fully stocked kitchen to the comfortable beds and the inviting living room, where we enjoyed watching movies on the TV, every detail was thoughtfully considered to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We also loved the selection of board games, which provided hours of fun and bonding for our family.
Having the ski resort nearby was a huge plus! We spent one of our days hitting the slopes, which was both exhilarating and fun. For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, the area boasts fantastic hiking trails that allowed us to immerse ourselves in nature and enjoy some quality family time.
One of the standout aspects of our stay was the exceptional hospitality from the hosts. They were incredibly attentive, ensuring that all our needs were met and going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Their kindness and dedication truly made our experience at Wrightwood Getaway special.
If you're looking for a peaceful escape with beautiful surroundings, comfortable accommodations, and top-notch service, I highly recommend Wrightwood Getaway. It was everything we hoped for and more, making our family trip one...
Read moreThis "cabin" is more like a small house, with everything you need. It was spacious, with large living/dining area, well supplied kitchen and clean bathroom. The master bedroom was very comfortable, the other room had 2 twin beds, perfect for kids. Speaking of which, there are plenty of books and toys to play with! Only 1 TV in living room, but hey, who wants to go on a mini vacation to watch TV? "Downtown" Wrightwood is a short 15 minute walk away, so that is nice. Another fun item they had here was a phonograph, & they actually had several cool LPs to play (Doors, Stones, Aretha Franklin, Cat Stevens, to name a few).
This house has a washer/dryer, so that was convenient. The Laundromat is about 6 miles away. Another nice little touch was home-made cookies for us, and doggie treats for our little beast, "Millie." The owners were very nice, answered any questions we had, & they also gave us a military discount (I am an Army Veteran).
I'd have given 5 Stars if for just one thing- the backyard. It's ok for kids or pets but it wasn't really landscaped or eye-appealing. Previously we had stayed at an actual cabin from the same owners (Lilac Cottage); it was built in 1929, and was smaller. That cabin was more like being "in the woods," with a nice size yard with tall pines trees all around. If we go again, we will stay at that...
