Sadly I saw another review left two months ago about expired food on shelves while employees stand around. I had also shared that last year. I've sooken directly to management. Today was no different. Employees just standing around. Why not direct and teach employees to go pull expired foods and even expired milk?

*Edit April 9, 2025 I went to check back on a few things to see if they were better. Sadly, they are not. Since going I talked with a couple of other people who go and they informed me even they have spoken to managers and staff about things and it will never change. Newer food items are stocked lazily in front of older food items. So, if you don't check dates you will get expired food over and over. Once again the egg fridge has mold. Black mold. They cleaned it out when spoken to before about the dangers of this. But it's back. The cooling grates near the bottem of the cold cuts are full of dust. While people/workers stand around when no customers are at registers. So, workers have plenty of time to be cleaning. Sad because in order to go to another store itsta thirty min drive which seems many in the area do.

*Edit October 18, 2024 I get an item that is hanging in the wrong spot. Upon looking there is no spot for the item. I get to the register and it won't ring up at all. A teen is sent back to check price and he asks me where a deli meat would be?? I tell him and when he comes back he gives the price of where it was hanging of $4 plus!? I said no all you did was look at the price not the product name. This is $1.00 or so. I ask for a manager and the teen checking out says she's in the back somewhere. He sends the other teen back and when he comes back he says the butcher says, "oh those are like .89! I mean have no clue if that was the correct price. Also, I wanted fresh veggies. No small trays only huge ones and tho I was going to get one all the cauliflower in them had mold on them already. All the fresh broccoli had bugs in them. Nothing else to get so don't go there for any fresh veggies. This wasn't the first time over several months of trying to get some. 😕😩😢

Edit Since my last review on multiple trips foods have expired! From fresh to frozen. I tell them promptly at check out and only once did someone go immediately back to check. Tonight I told not one but two young men and I looked back up on leaving and they were just standing and talking! This is unexceptable!! I will be calling a manager for the third time!

Went to get pudding and the first kind I want expired at the beginning of the month. The second kind I picked expired July 8th 2024. Decided I wasn't going to get pudding. I worked in retail so I get it, sometimes your very busy, but when you have one on the register and one bagging and then 3 just standing around not doing a thing is bullshit. They should be checking the dates on stuff. There's no reason something that expired damn near a year ago should still be on the shelf. When you pull something forward to put more of that product on the shelf behind it, your supposed to check the dates. For the fact it's been damn near a year since it expired shows that not one person was paying attention when stocking...

I love G&W in Chanute and Iola and Fredonia. I visit them quite frequently. The meat department is the best. The butcher's are doing everything right there in the store makes it the freshest cut beef in the area. The produce department is superior to any other. Employees are helpful and friendly. I will always enjoy their customers as well. This is just a friendly atmosphere. Prices are a little pricey but my dad used to say "you get what you pay...
