It's a Mexican restaurant! I LOVE MEXICAN FOOD just not this food nor restaurant. Yates center, Kansas is literally somewhere and nowhere. Lots of friendly people, cute shops in the town square and that's where this is located. The service is good although nurse your drink as no one comes to refill or ask if you want another beverage. The atmosphere? It's a banquet size hall with tables and black pleather chairs and booths lining one wall. It's vast for a small town restaurant which is why I'm thinking, "wow! They must have a regular clientele!" And must be tasty. I order a small margarita on the rocks with salt. It arrives with no salt and is so watery I can barely taste the lemon lime filler. No lime on the glass either. Just basically a Fresca soda without the fizz and tepid. (I abhore tepid). The chips and salsa are winners. I absolutely loved the salsa which was great going in and after about 2 seconds your reaction is, "oh wow, that had a bite." The guacamole is just pounded avocado and nothing else-no tomatoes, no onion, no cilantro, nada! Zip! Zilch! Disappointing. My burrito arrived TEPID and it was absolutely lukewarm in taste as well. BLAND. Like eating hominy or okra. BLAND. I'm pretty sure the "cheese" on top was a squeeze pouch from U S Foods. BLAND. It was a very pallid and wan experience for my favorite type of food. ☹️

We happened along on a Sunday Buffet only day and so glad we did! Wide variety of dishes with fresh toppings complete with guacamole and queso. Buffet also very reasonable priced at $13.99.

For being in YC, my little hometown, this family does a really great job. Great people and great food. Can't go wrong 👌

The atmosphere is odd and unsettling. Not to mention the smell as soon as you walk in was enough to make us both nauseous. Also, I understand having to cater to your demographic, considering this establishment is located in Yates Center KS, I get that your menu can't be very "authentic". It's almost if they have a "country" section of the menu. That being said, despite the menu being huge, the options seemed very limited. On another note, our waiter was extremely friendly and pleasant. The only thing that bothered me about him specifically, was he delivered my limes to the table by hand, with no gloves and proceeded to place them upon the table top next to my drink. No bowl, no gloves, nothing. Aside from him, the rest of the staff was very unpleasant and unprofessional. The amount of banter and horseplay infront of customers was astounding. As for the food... it was bland and flavorless. Thank God I asked for a side of Pico deGallo, or my food would have tasted the same as Taco Bell. Please just do yourself a favor and make the drive to El Ricon Azteca...

Update It had been awhile so I decided to give it a try again. I got the same thing to make the review fair. I got tacos and found they are just meat and lettuce. I had to pay an added $1.50 just to get cheese on tacos. Again, the meat was barely warm so had to warm them at home in the microwave which of course wilted the lettuce. They were not busy in fact I was the only customer at the time tho a group was just leaving. It's not somewhere I'd choose to go to again.

Disappointed in the tacos. We hadn't been and wanted to start with something small. This review is for those only and if we go again will try something else. Tacos were cold! As in the meat was cold. Two people working the whole place! One couldn't understand me when I asked for my drink in a to go glass so I had to ask the other person. The lady who seated us didn't take our drink orders and took another tables drink orders that came...
