Overall, my family has had good experiences at the fair in the past. This year, however, my family of four (husband, 8 year old, three year old and myself) were told we could not ride the Ferris wheel together as a family of four after waiting in line over 30 minutes. There are no signs posted about a maximum of 3 persons or a weight limit. We were told that it was a safety issues and the wheel had to be balanced. I spoke with the manager and he basically did nothing and explained about the weight having to be balanced. My husband weighs about 150, I weigh about 160, and our children may weigh 80 pounds together. These amounts combined would probably be less than the weight of 3 average size adults. Our children both have autism and that is not something we should have to disclose to ride a ride at the fair. Not being able to ride with both parents for supervision and safety purposes is not fair or legal. Signs should be posted for person amounts or weight limits and possibly a scale for persons getting on to ensure the weight balance is met. If this were the case we would have no issues with complying with posted rules and would have known the weight/person limit and forgone the rice altogether. Its 2021 and itâs sad that this is still happening. Yahoo County we need to do better...
Read moreThe fair was ill prepared for opening this week obviously!! Three of the few adult rides were not in working order. Kids were skipping in line all over the place making the lines longer and longer I had to stop a taller young man from bullying, three girls and another young man which were all smaller than him, maybe around the same age. It wasnât even worth $12. It was about 10 minutes until 11 which was closing time, and I walked to a booth where there was a man and I asked him where I could buy a candy apple. He pointed to the booth across from him, but with a complete attitude and told me itâs over there but theyâre sold out weâre done, when there was like four people standing in line. Apparently they donât want to make money or something, and he claim to be the owner of the rides, when I asked why, so many of the adult rides werenât working. Oh, and then he just shut the window and ignored me. Smh. Very rude when I wasnât rude with him at all. Was the only time in at least 35 years of going to fairs that I ever had a bad time. I havenât gone out and done much of anything in the past few years may be my expectations...
Read moreWe have skipped the state fair the last two years and visited the Yazoo County Fair instead. No regrets! We spend a third of what we did at the state fair, and the atmosphere is so much nicer! We love the fact that it's on grass instead of asphalt - this makes it so much cooler than the state fair, which is usually hot and steamy. It isn't as big as the state fair, but the ride offerings are great! Loads of rides for the kids, and enough big rides that the older kids and adults have plenty to do, as well. Games are easier to win than the state fair and the prizes are the same. Not as many food trucks are there, but most all of the fair food items are covered, and the prices are way better than the state fair. 5 stars...
