A not to miss site when in the area or just passing through.
Firstly, the sights cannot be ignored, the visitors center sits right at the edge of the crater, unraveling magnificent views and a unique landscape. In addition to all the splendor, its not rare to see antilopes roaming around freely. Please keep them safe and healthy and avoid feeding them.
Secondly, the center itself is informative with helpful explanations of the area, the wildlife and how the Ramon crater was created . Visitors who wish to connect more to this beautiful landscape, can inquire about the hiking trails and activities offered, as there are plenty of ways to explore. Just make sure you have plenty of water and snacks with you.
Furthermore, theres a whole section dedicated to Ilan Ramon, israel.s first astronaut, in memory and honor of the whole 2003 space shuttle Colombia.s crew and its tragic misfortune. And though one may wonder, the crater is not named after the late astronaut.
Theres a resturaunt near by, plenty of parking and the whole site is wheelchair accessible.
Best times to visit are sunrise and sunset due to the bursting display of colors. My personal favorite is the sunrise when the site is still considerably empty and the views are to die for, and you still have a full day of exploration in front of you. Take note that the visitor center will be closed, so mind the hours.
Highly recommended.

Tips: 1) in the room with the semicircular blackout curtains and projector, be prepared to take photos after the movie 2) the overall tour takes about 50 minutes 3) the final movie is the most skippable if pressed for time (it's about the evils of light pollution and isn't as unique to the site).
If you're not pressed for time, certainly worth a visit. There's a series of movies - most of which are informative- half focus on the crater, half focus on the first Israeli astronaut, Ilan Ramon, who perished aboard the Columbia in 2003. The front desk staff are helpful, Toilets clean, and there are some souveniers for sale.

Amazing place! There is a museum about the first Israeli astronaut and a ticket for a walk around the crater for an additional fee but we went on the viewing point, where you could see the crater in all of its glory! The desert is mesmorisingly beautiful and you can even see some Ibex if you‘re lucky. The viewing point is right of the Visitors Centre. Left of it are some Cafés, another viewing point and an opportunity to climb one of the craters walls (with guides, of course).

One of the most informative visitor centers I visited in Israel in the last couple of years. You need to schedule the tour in advance. For 'Matmon' card, it is free entrance. We were there with our 3 kids and it was worth the time and money. The views when the curtain is opened are spectacular. It would take about a little over an hour. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. There is also a small souvenir shop and clean restrooms.

Nice place to stop for an hour with the kids. Don't forget to bring bottles to fill up with colorful sand. It is a nice experience on your way from or to someplace else.
There's a nice lake to stay around for a picnic.
The only setback is there is no shade at all so if you wish to visit during summer come prepared with hats, sun screen and maybe even some shader if you wish to picnic with the nice desert view.

Very noce place to vist if you are in Mitzpe Ramon area or driving to Eilat city.
Amazing place with a lot of colorful kinds of sand. You must bring an empty bottole to fill it up with the different sand. You can park in the Minsara parking area and can go by foot to the corful sand (around 20 slowly minutes of walking for childrens).
Dont forget to bring water because its very hot.
Free parking !

Yes, it's in the middle of nowhere, yes it's sands and it's cold at night, but have you seen the milky way? It's an amazing place for taking a nap and watch the galaxy crossing the sky all over. At day time you will find yourself in the middle of the Ramon creator and it's not easy to describe how beautiful this place is. If you love nature and space. This is the place for you

This place is a great stop-off in the area. There are heaps of colored sand for you to fall your bottle with. I would suggest using the small liquor bottles you find in a mini bar or an airplane and not the larger water bottles as they are more difficult to fill up. You can also buy small bottle perfect for this in a small store near the restaurants in Mitzpe Ramon.

Awesome lookout point for the Ramon Crater! It's called the Camel mount because from certain angles it looks like a camel sitting. Situated at 900 meters, it is technically one of Israel's high points. It's best to go at sunset, sunrise or even on a full moon, but you still really enjoy it at anytime! There is a simple little climb. Just watch your step! The Ramon crater is the world's largest natural crater and is even more beautiful once you go down into it. Here, you enjoy it from above!

Such an amazing place. An observation platform is built onto the top of a rock formation shaped like a camel. A fantastic view of the crater, and due to the location and distance from other towns, one of the clearest night skies I have ever seen in my life.

Camel mountain - one of the place - must to visit if you in this area. Amazing place to stay, great view on nearby mountains, duns and area of the crater itself. Very recommended to visit and enjoy the place and view of beautiful nature.

Great point of view seeing the Ramon crater. There is one observation point that you need to claim up and the second one in the level of parking. Astonishing views, especially at afternoon time when the sun light is aside.

Love this place. The winter sunrise is breathtaking from here. This is definitely a place for meditation. Not much of a walk from the parking. Could be a bit risky for kids. Recommend it 100 percent.
