"Lazy French Getaway: Aix-en-Provence Day 04" 🚗💨

📍 Aix-en-Provence Just a 50-minute drive from Arles, we arrived in Cézanne's hometown—a livelier town with luxury boutiques, international brands, and way more dining options than Arles! 🛍️🍽️ 🎨 Musée Granet Disappointingly, Cézanne's works were under renovation 😢, but we enjoyed classical & neoclassical masterpieces and stunning sculptures instead. ⛪ Aix Cathedral A mix of Romanesque and Gothic styles, with a breathtaking interior. Don't miss the ancient baptistery—one of the oldest in France! 🏔️ Mont Sainte-Victoire Cézanne’s obsession (he painted it 87 times!) and Cai Guo-Qiang’s fireworks muse. I tried a watercolor sketch here—channeling my inner artist! 🎨✨ 🌿 Field of Painters A dreamy garden where local artists set up easels. Perfect for a quiet stroll or joining a plein-air workshop! 🚪 Portail Cézanne All that remains of a demolished building—just a lonely gate (thanks to urban planning). A bittersweet tribute to Aix's past. Quick Tips for Your Visit Best Time to Go: Spring/Summer for lavender fields & outdoor painting. Parking: Use Parking Rotonde (near the iconic fountain). Food Rec: Try "Les Deux Garçons"—Cézanne’s favorite café! ☕ Day Trip? Easy from Marseille/Avignon—don’t skip it like my regretful friend! 😆 #AixEnProvence #Cézanne #Provence #ArtLovers #FranceTravel #SlowTravel 🧺🌞
