[Third Visit Already] Boston's Cambridge Sichuan Food Heaven 🔥

🍴 Too hot 📍 16-18 Eliot St LG1, Cambridge, MA 02138 Right next to Harvard's main campus, owned by the same person behind Noah's Kitchen, with some overlapping dishes. However, Too hot leans more toward Yunnan-Guizhou-Sichuan flavors—spicier and more aromatic. Omakase is $99 per person and requires advance booking. 🧑🏻‍🍳 Omakase The omakase was completely flawless—portions were huge, so we ended up taking leftovers home… The menu isn’t just spicy dishes; there are milder options too, making the overall meal very well-balanced and enjoyable. The only downside: if you eat slowly, you might get rushed 😭—we were hurried by the server several times. 🥡 À La Carte 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Must-orders 🐔 Xifeng Spicy Chicken – Chicken fried crispy outside and tender inside, numbing and spicy seasoning—so satisfying digging for chicken in the peppers! 🍄‍🟫 Yunnan Ham with Assorted Mushrooms – The whole table’s favorite among four people. How can mushrooms be this fragrant 😋? Paired with cured meat without being salty—actually enhances the umami. 🐮 Stir-fried Beef with Young Ginger – The beef is incredibly tender, and the chilies are super aromatic—spicy and fragrant. By the end, we were mixing the peppers into our rice. 🐮 Spicy Stir-fried Beef Brisket – Thinner than the ginger beef, so even more tender. A great choice for those who don’t like ginger. 🐷 Qiaotou Three Tender Delights – Must-order! All three are wonderfully tender and richly seasoned. 🫥🫥🫥 So-so (NPC tier) 🦆 Ginger-Blasted Rice Field Duck – Seasoning is very fragrant, but the duck meat is all bone-in with very little actual meat. 🍆 Blistered Pepper Eggplant Strips – Standard. Tastes like eggplant with Sichuan “Chuanwazi” blistered pepper sauce. 🐚 Blistered Pepper Sea Whelk – Whelk slices are tender 👍, but the seasoning is the same as the eggplant. 🙂‍↔️🙂‍↔️🙂‍↔️ Skip These 🐷 Twice-Cooked Pork – Too fatty, and they even added potatoes… not really getting it. 🐷 Stir-fried Minced Pork with Pickled Mustard – Isn’t this just green pepper with minced meat?… 🐟 Garlic-Braised Live Eel – Major letdown. The eel is fresh and firm, but there are only a few slices! Also not flavorful at all—$50 feels like a rip-off. 🐟 Guizhou Sour Soup Swirl Fish – The fish is very tender but has a slight fishy taste, and the sour soup isn’t tangy enough—more like tomato soup. 🍜 Yibin Ranmian (Spicy Noodles) – Not tasty. The chili isn’t fragrant and it’s a bit too sweet. 💰 À la carte per person: ~$50 💰 Omakase per person: ~$120 #BostonWeekend #StudyAbroad #SichuanFood #CambridgeBoston #HarvardFood #Boston #BostonFood #BostonFoodDiscovery #BostonLife #StudyInBoston #SichuanFoodHeaven
