[Traveling with Kids in NZ #4] What to Do Near Auckland Airport

Since we were flying from Auckland to Queenstown that day, I did a lot of research to find activities near the airport that are: ✅ Drivable ✅ Kid‑friendly ✅ Free! We found a few options — ended up only visiting the first one due to time, but here are the others for your reference: 🌳 A) Hayman Park (Manukau City Centre, Auckland 2104) Went on a weekend. The small park lot was full, but downtown parking nearby was free on weekends with plenty of spaces — just cross the street to the playground! It’s fairly large, lots of local kids playing — perfect for letting little ones burn off energy. We stayed about 40 minutes before heading to drop off the rental car and go to the airport. 🦆 B) Ambury Regional Park A free farm experience — you can get close to animals, bird‑watch, and do light walks with nice views. There’s also a photo frame setup for pictures. About 10 minutes’ drive from the airport — search for more detailed guides. 🥑 C) Otuataua Stonefields Reserve (56 Ihumatao Quarry Road, Māngere) Only 5 minutes from the airport. Free entry, scenic walks, and — avocado trees! I love spotting fruit trees (seeing lemon, orange, or dragon fruit trees always makes me super happy 😊). It’s said that from November to March, you can pick up to 5 avocados per person (please verify this before going — there are several detailed posts on about it). #AucklandAirport #AucklandTravel #AucklandWithKids #NZTravel #NZFamilyTrip #AucklandTips #NorthIslandNZ #NZAirport #FreeActivities #KidFriendlyNZ
