🍴 | Córdoba Food Diary ☀️ Lunch

🍴🤎🤎🤎🤎 Taberna Salinas This restaurant is a century-old establishment with a cozy and warm interior. The traditional service style is just right—neither too intrusive nor too distant. I made a reservation in advance by phone. On the day of my visit, I was in a hurry, but after communicating with the staff, everything went smoothly. They ensured we had plenty of time for our meal, and the overall experience was excellent. 1️⃣ 💛💛💛💛💛 Berenjenas fritas con miel de caña A classic dish from southern Spain, honey-fried eggplant is a must-try. This version is perfectly thin and crispy, with just the right amount of sauce. If you don't mind the oil, you won't be able to stop eating it! 🍳 2️⃣ 💛💛💛💛 Rabo de toro estofado al estilo cordobés Another classic dish from Andalusia, this braised oxtail is typical of the region. The flavors are well-balanced, but it's not particularly outstanding. The dish is cooked just right, but the fries could be better. Overall, it's a solid choice for a casual meal at a tavern. 🥩 3️⃣ 💛💛💛❤️ Salmorejo Cordobés This cold soup is quite classic and well-executed. It's not overly innovative, but it hits all the right notes. The quality of the ham is decent. We also tried Ajo blanco, but my family wasn't a fan of the cold garlic soup with grapes combination. 🥧 4️⃣ 💛💛❤️ Naranjas “Picás” con aceite y bacalao I'm not a big fan of cold, rehydrated salt cod. Objectively, I think the quality of the olive oil in this dish could be better. Córdoba is one of Spain's major olive-producing regions, with endless olive groves along the roads. I highly recommend trying a bottle of local cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil. My family has been carrying a bottle around and using it everywhere since we discovered it here. 🍋 5️⃣ 💛💛💛❤️ Setas a la plancha Grilled mushrooms that disappear as soon as they hit the table! They're perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and very appealing to Chinese palates. A definite must-order! 🍄 6️⃣ 💛❤️ Morcilla casera Grilled blood sausage is very common in Spain and similar in texture to British black pudding, though it contains more rice. (I personally prefer haggis.) However, I found the blood sausage here to be quite ordinary. There are many better options out there. In fact, a blood sausage from the UK Palace supermarket is currently my top pick. 🍖 #Spain #SpanishTravel #Andalusia #Córdoba #CórdobaFood #SpanishCuisine
