Seattle | Bateau | Our Go-To Steakhouse for Date Night 🥩✨

📍 Bateau (Another long-overdue review that's been collecting dust...) Last Saturday, my partner surprised me with a date night invitation—but of course, the restaurant-hunting responsibility fell on me (again). As I frantically scrolled through my dining list, I couldn't help but sigh at Seattle's limited-yet-extortionately-priced steakhouse options... 😮💨 In the end, meat cravings + last-minute availability led us to Bateau. Verdict? Wildly inconsistent. This was actually our third visit. The most memorable experience remains their Valentine's Day tasting menu two years ago—every single course was perfection. Sadly, that magic hasn't been replicated since... though to be fair, it's still one of the few Seattle date spots we're willing to revisit. This time, we tried to order modestly (because #adulting and #diets), but... Let's be real—sometimes nostalgia should stay nostalgia. This visit was just okay, with one dish being an absolute disaster: 🍄 The mushrooms (previously a dignified side dish) tasted like swamp water disguised as fungi. One bite and I wanted to yeet them into the abyss. Full breakdown: 🧈 Amuse-bouche: Meh. The buttercream was either under-whipped or over-saturated—just cloyingly rich. 🥩 Beef jerky: Consistently good. If you like chewy, savory bites, this delivers. 🐮 Beef tartare: Mostly reliable, though slightly fishy this time. The crispy shrimp chips saved it—that crunchy + fatty combo is always a win. 🔪 Aged ribeye: Disappointingly average. Maybe we picked the wrong cut? And those cursed mushrooms... shudders. 🍰 Dessert: Can't even remember which one we got (thanks, spice overload), but my Asian sweet tooth was NOT impressed. Final thoughts: We'll probably return when the meat cravings strike again, but this visit definitely hurt its value-for-money score. 📍 Bateau Seattle, WA Anyone else have a love-hate relationship with Bateau? Am I the only one mourning their past glory?
