🏴☠️ The Pirate Gem of Northern France | Saint-Malo's Seas & Sunsets
Following my Mont Saint-Michel guide, I took a 1-hour bus ride to the pirate city of Saint-Malo—a hidden treasure I first discovered on "Flowers and Teens: Friendship Journey" 🌸📺. While the show only gave it a quick glimpse, visiting in person revealed its undiscovered charm! ⏰ Ideal Stay: 2 Days! Saint-Malo’s magic shines at high tide—when waves crash against the towering ramparts, covering the coastal promenade in foamy splendor. 🌊💥 🏨 Where to Stay? Hôtel Le Nouveau (📍coastal road, 10min walk to old town) Book a sea-view room—wake up to ocean vistas! 🌅 Staff went above & beyond, even securing my dinner reservations. 👏 🌊 Must-Do Activities: 1️⃣ Fort National 🏰 A 17th-century fortress (closed Oct 1–April, sadly missed it 😢). 2️⃣ Grand Bé & Petit Bé Islands 🏝️ Walk there at low tide (path disappears when tides rise—check schedules!). 3️⃣ Old Town Ramparts 🧱 Walk the full loop (1–2hrs) at sunset for epic views. Golden hour = photographer’s dream! 📸 4️⃣ Saint-Vincent Cathedral ⛪ Stained glass + sunlight = rainbow kaleidoscope. 5️⃣ Lighthouse 🔦 Snap postcard-perfect shots of the walled city from here! 🦪 Foodie Heaven: 🍽️ La Cabane – €39 seafood buffet (crabs, oysters, scallops, fish stew… fresh & abundant!). 🥞 Bergamote – Best galettes! Try duck breast-scallop or bacon-mushroom-cheese. 🍷 Fidelis – Chic French bistro (book ahead!). €30 set menu (starter-main-dessert). 🍦 Sanchez – Century-old gelato shop near the cathedral. Salted caramel = must! 🧈 Kouign-Amann – Buttery, caramelized pastry. Bought vacuum-packed ones to bring home! 🎁 ✍️ Final Thoughts: Saint-Malo is for slow strolls along the sea, sipping cider at cozy cafés 🍏🥂, and watching the sun dip below the horizon from ancient walls. The locals are warm, the scenery stunning—time slows down here, and it’s glorious. #SaintMalo #Brittany #FranceTravel #HiddenGems #SeafoodLover #SunsetChaser #ParisDayTrip #SlowTravel
