🍢 — Today We Ate Yakitori — LA’s Ultimate Japanese Skewer Guide 🏮
🍢 Izakaya BIZAN ❤️❤️❤️❤️ My go-to spot in DTLA for kushiyaki 🏮 Better in-house than takeout — great for catching up with friends. Hidden on the 3rd floor of an older mall, but inside, the izakaya vibes are strong! Juicy, flavorful Japanese skewers. 🍢 Torimatsu (Must call ahead — tried walking in twice and failed) A must-mention for yakitori! Classic, affordable, and tastes amazing. Their $38 10-skewer set is a no-brainer — just order it blind! 🍢 Torihei Yakitori Robata Dining Big plus: opens at noon — you can have skewers for lunch! Kushiyaki and small plates are consistently good — definitely a repeat spot. 🍢 Taberu ❤️❤️❤️ Wish every restaurant let you order like this 😄 A whole tray of vibrant real skewers — clear and appetizing. Japanese-American fusion with fresh ingredients and great flavor. 🍢 Tsubaki ❤️❤️❤️ Service and ambiance are lovely — food is delicious but portions are tiny! Best for when you’re not too hungry and just want drinks and chat. Otherwise, one bite each won’t be enough 😅 (Parking nearby is tough.) 🍢 Shin-Sen-Gumi 📍 18517 S Western Ave, Gardena, CA 📍 45 S Garfield Ave, Alhambra, CA ❤️❤️❤️ The Gardena location specializes in Yakitori; Alhambra has some options too. Gardena is authentic traditional Japanese style. Food is tasty — but each skewer takes forever. Be ready for a long, late meal. 🍢 HATCH ❤️❤️ Upscale, creative skewers — the fried corn kernels were nice. Some unique choices balancing innovation and taste. 🍢 Torigoya ❤️ Didn’t leave a strong impression — decent but not memorable. 🍢 Izakaya Osen 🩶 DO NOT order Kushiyaki here — it’s hard to believe a place with such good sashimi can serve dry, overcooked skewers. Up next to try: 🍢 Nanbankan & 🍢 Koshiji — will update after I go! #DinnerTonight #WhatToEatToday #Izakaya #JapaneseYakitori #YakitoriSpot #GrilledSkewers
