【Food】What to Eat in Savannah | Best Chefs of the "Oscars" of Food 🎨Before coming to Savannah, I thought this place only had Georgia’s most famous peach products and the South’s renowned beer-battered fried chicken. Little did I know the restaurants here are no pushovers—there are many that have won James Beard Awards, the "Oscars" of the food world. Today, I’m summarizing the spots I tried during my long weekend trip 🎨 📸The Grey Restaurant👍 🍾Their chef, Mashama Bailey, won this year’s Outstanding Chef award. This place is extremely hard to book—I checked three weeks in advance and all times were full, but luckily, I set a Resy Alert and finally snagged a spot 🍾 🍷Unlike typical Savannah Southern restaurants housed in small villas, the vibe here is more like a retro American diner from a movie. There’s a neon sign with the restaurant’s name, and a glass roof lets in natural light—it has a super unique style. The restaurant offers a 3-course menu for $75, with 4 choices per course; desserts are extra if you want them 🍷 🥂When I dined on Saturday night, the server offered me a Secret Chef’s menu. I’m not sure if this is available daily, but that night it was limited—later diners didn’t seem to get it. It’s a 7-course menu for $150, from appetizers to desserts, with seafood-focused mains 🥂 📸Elizabeth on 37th👍 🍸A restaurant in a small mansion, with waiters who are all older gentlemen—each one is polite and knowledgeable about food and wine. The dishes here are classic Southern fare: you can try famous Georgia shrimp and Cajun-style mussels, paired with a glass of red wine for a delicious meal 🍸 📸Collins Quarter👌 ☕️Arguably Savannah’s most famous brunch spot—one downtown, the other in Forsyth Park. Dinner can be reserved, but brunch is walk-in only. On nice days, sitting outdoors with sunlight filtering through the trees, sipping an affogato and eating egg-topped French toast? That’s a quintessential Savannah experience ☕️ 📸Leopold’s Ice Cream👍 🍨This over-100-year-old ice cream shop is a must-try! On hot summer days, coconut and lemon flavors are refreshing (not too rich), and of course, the classic chocolate is worth a taste. It’s always packed—there’s basically a permanent long line outside 🍨 📸Savannah Seafood Shack👎 🦀A hands-on seafood spot with high Yelp ratings. I thought, "Savannah’s seafood is famous, and Cajun flavors rarely go wrong," so I gave it a try… but was totally disappointed. Not recommended for tourists to waste time on 🦀 #USATravelOffTheBeatenPath
