【Philly Food Diary】|Classic Steakhouse Butcher & Singer 🥩

Walkable carnivorous delight — haha! Living nearby means a leisurely stroll to a long-bookmarked spot. Just 3 minutes from our shop, we stepped into the iconic Philly steakhouse Butcher & Singer. Four to five dishes later, we were thoroughly satisfied. 🍞 The complimentary bread basket lived up to its hype — flaky outside, cloud-soft inside, spread with sweet-savory butter — smooth, rich, delicious! 🐌 Escargot — classic garlic herb butter snails. Tender, bouncy, swimming in that fragrant garlic-herb butter. Don’t waste a drop — our server brought extra bread for dipping. Zero left behind! 🥗 Shrimp & Crab Louie Salad — a refreshing start. Generous chunks of crab, no fishy taste, paired with classic Thousand Island dressing — tangy and light, perfect before the meat feast. (Tip: When they offer to split the salad, let them plate it separately for you.) 🦪 Oyster Rockefeller — an accidental order that turned into a happy surprise. I expected it to be heavy, but under the cheesy herb breadcrumb crust, the oysters were plump and juicy. Lemon juice was the perfect finish! Main Event 🥩 Surf & Turf — my husband’s pick. The Australian lobster was cooked perfectly — tender, springy, and honestly outshone the filet mignon (which was still juicy and tender — a safe choice). (Inner monologue: Shouldn’t a steakhouse excel at steak? 😅) My Delmonico Steak suited my taste better — well-marbled, rich, with a beautiful Maillard crust. Ordered medium rare, but it leaned closer to medium (I might need to go rare next time). Overall, Butcher & Singer delivers the solid, no-frills quality of a classic steakhouse. From bread to steak — no flashy tricks, just skillful execution. The satisfaction felt like a grand, hearty conversation with meat — grounding and joyful. 💰 Price: ~$300 for two with tip (~$170 per person). You can tailor it to your budget. 📍 Tip: In downtown Philly, it’s worth the trip for this classic steak experience. Just don’t fill up on bread — save room for the main event! 😉 #PhillyLife #StudyInPhilly #PhillyArea #VibeDining #HiddenGem #SteakFeast #PhillyEats
