First, let me begin by saying that I visited this establishment April 20th. The waitress had told me that they were holding a going away party for the GM at the time I was there. The overall service was excellent. The waitress that served our table was very nice and very knowledgeable on the menu. Based off the service, this establishment would have received 4 stars. As a starter my table ordered the Confit Duck Wings, which were nothing short of amazing. The sauce had an exceptional and delicious taste and the meat slid right off the bones. As for the entrees we ordered a 12oz strip steak (32$) with a side of buttered mashed potatoes and the grilled 8oz free range bison burger (23$). For one, the strip steak was lacking in taste. For a 32$ steak that is served from an establishment known for their meats, I expected more. Although, the meat was cooked very well and the carrots and potatoes that came with the plate were of perfect texture and taste. The mashed potatoes were perfect in texture but also lacking in taste. The burger was amazing, despite we had to send it back to the kitchen 2 times in order for them to cook the meat as requested (medium well). The first time we got the burger, we received it burnt. (all you can taste was the smoke) The second time we received the burger, the burger was close to raw. The raw pink liquid was gushing out and the texture was unbearable. The third time was the charm and we had no complaints afterwards, just praise for the delicious taste. The waitress then apologized for the inconvenience and offered us a free dessert or to even remove the burger off the bill. Once she brought the check, she bolted as soon as we began to unravel the check to then realize she did not remove the burger off the bill nor grant us with a free dessert. We would have had no issue paying for the burger, the issue was her offering us a false promise. Overall, it was a promising establishment. Hopefully it was just a bad choice of day to visit but I hope for it to be better on...
Read moreFirst off we got a small table in the corner of the restaurant in a close in patio area. The decor was nice but a little dusty unfortunately. The waiter we had was completely rude when we were ordering and going to only get one entree. When we finished our appetizers no one ever came by to get our plates so when the entrees came we had no where to put them since they sat us at such a small table. After we managed to make room for the entree, we got the Royale with cheese and it literally tasted like a Burger King whopper but way greasier! It was so greasy as inedible that the bun was breaking down due to so much grease soaking it. Having issues with our order and not having the waiter ever coming by to check in on us was honestly annoying. Our waiter made eye contact with us yet still avoided us when our were plates pile high on our table. We couldn’t even eat our food because it was disgusting and we were so disappointed. So here’s the biggest issue I had with this place, a table with 6 people that sat next to us left after paying. When the staff took the plates they dropped food in the middle of the floor. Next thing I know there were about 5 mice running into the closed in patio area ( We were sitting in one of the corners seeing this) eating the food off the floor. None of the staffed acknowledged the nice or cleaned up the big amounts of food left on the floor. After we paid our bill we decided to tell the manager about the mice in the patio area because it is only a few feet into the inside of the restaurant where the kitchen is. When we addressed her of the issue she responded rudely saying “We are in the city what do you expect?”. I have never dealt with this kind of unprofessional attitude from an entire staff that I will NEVER eat here again! Mice are a serious health hazard when it comes to the customers eating at restaurants and it should be handled as such! I will be contacting the Health Department about this because the staff obviously doesn’t care about...
Read moreWas in Philadelphia for a show and decided to check out some of the highly rated restaurants in downtown Philly and made reservations at Butcher Bar. Arrived at about 6:30PM for our reservations was thoroughly surprised by the cute decor, it has little decoration from weight scales to butcher utensils (sounds scary but it is cute, trust me!). We were seated in the back, which each table was lined with little tea light candles and it was just such an intimate setting.
Ordered, too much food for two people to share!!
Pretzel Monkey Bread - eh? It was served warm with some delicious dipping sauces, so that was quite nice but ultimately not a necessity as it was not fresh from the ovens. I was hopping for something a little bit more pipping hot, cause that matches the essence of monkey bread. Still over all tastes was quite nice, paired well with dipping sauces.
Crispy Parmesan Garlic Bread - so amazing!! If you like a hard crusty bread, garlic and parmesan than I highly highly suggest this! It does have olive oil in the recipe but its like perfect and so delicious. Amazing! I used this bread to soak up the mac and cheese off the plate.
Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese - Wow! Perfectly, subtle smoked gouda flavor and pasta was cooked al-dente which was great. It had the panko crust sprinkled on top which is the exact way to top off mac and cheese so it was crunchy! Would highly recommend and order again!
Sloppy Joe Poutine - eh? This reminded me of chili cheese fries, overall decent but not necessarily something to write home about. Chili was flavored well and the fries were crispy.
Rotisserie Game Hen - Delicious! Very very delicious and perfectly cooked hen, it is half of a whole hen so there will be bones for those who do not like to cut their meat off the bones. The chicken was moist in every part and it was so flavorful.
Would definitely return to actually try the steaks and other meat products but today was more of a random...
