【Work from Berlin】Checking In at a Restaurant Every Day 🍽️✨

This restaurant called “Dicke Wirtin” (the Fat Woman) doesn’t have much online introduction, but we absolutely loved it after dining here! It has been a favorite spot for many West Berlin students since the 1960s, and it truly lives up to its delicious reputation over the years! 🕰️❤️ 🐷🐷: They serve classic German dishes like the pork knuckle, but in a braised version (which I personally prefer). This time, we opted for pulled pork neck with roasted potatoes. It was fresh and delicious, and the pork neck was so tender—perfectly complemented by the meat jelly! 🐮🐮: This restaurant is famous for its offal, so I chose the pan-fried beef liver! Making offal tasty without the strong flavor and dryness is quite challenging, but they nailed it! The beef liver is sliced thin and pan-fried, topped with an apple-flavored sauce. It was so good! Many people don’t know that apple-braised meat is also a signature dish in Berlin! To cut through the richness, they even served a slice of roasted apple! 🍏😋 🍎🍎: Don’t forget to order the apple strudel for dessert! The pastry is soft with a slightly crispy edge after baking, filled with apples and a few raisins, topped with cream and sprinkled with cinnamon! Even I, who usually don’t like apples, found it delicious! 🍏🍰 🍺🍺: You definitely need to try a drink here! They have 9 types of tap beers and 30 kinds of house-made brandies and liqueurs. Just look at the bar to see the various drinks and descriptions. You’ll notice many locals come here for a drink! If you prefer non-alcoholic, you can choose the apple-flavored lemonade. 🍋🥤 💰💰: Average cost is around €25. 🍽️🍽️: This place has a charming historical feel, with photos and cartoon memorabilia of the “fat owner” hanging everywhere, even featuring her cartoon figure! It’s rare to find such a flavorful restaurant in West Berlin!
