🏛️ DTLA Hidden Gem: A Restaurant Inside a Church
This unique dining spot is nestled right inside a historic church! ⛪️ The vibe shifts dramatically from day to night: ☀️ Daytime – bright, airy, with lovely outdoor seating 🌙 Evening – moody, intimate, with a touch of gothic charm at the entrance The menu blends Italian and American flavors… with a surprise Thai twist! 🍲 One standout dish is the Whole Crispy Branzino – lightly fried, deboned, and served in a flavorful Thai-style broth. It’s light, not too oily, and pleasantly savory. We also tried: 🍐 Pear Salad – seasonal (sometimes apple or strawberry), with a touch of cheese foam 🍤 Grilled Prawns – served warm but fairly standard in flavor But the real star was dessert! 🍫 A dark chocolate mint Italian-style sweet that was refreshing, not too rich, and easily our favorite of the night. 😋 Fun comparison: This menu reminded me of Two Travelers Wine Bar in Temecula—similar dishes, but executed even more impressively. (More on that soon—highly recommend if you’re wine tasting! 🍷) Overall, Red Bird offers a memorable atmosphere and solid drinks, perfect for a date or unique night out. ✨ Red Bird 114 E 2nd St, Los Angeles, CA 90012 #USA #LA #DTLA #UniqueEats #ChurchRestaurant #DateNight #LAFoodie #HiddenGems
