🌶️ In San Gabriel – Authentic
Calling all Southern California sisters who love Sichuan food! 😍 This hidden gem in San Gabriel just launched a weekday lunch deal that’s too good to miss! One hearty main + one side + two bowls of rice + two bowls of bingfen (iced jelly dessert) – all for just $37! We were so full – perfect for two! 📍 Erwa Cold Fish Pot 529 Valley Blvd #178A, San Gabriel, CA 91776 I’d heard this place was both authentic and budget-friendly – and as a Cantonese girl who’s obsessed with spicy Sichuan food (even though I can’t handle too much heat 😂), I had to try it! We ordered the weekday double set meal plus a few recommended dishes for a true taste of Sichuan. 🍲 Golden Soup Pickled Fish Set The sour-spicy broth was rich and appetizing 🐟 The fish was super tender, and the tofu and vermicelli soaked up all that delicious flavor. The set also came with a Sichuan-style side dish, two rice bowls, and two bingfen – all for $37! Great value and super satisfying! 🦆 Mao Xue Wang-Style Roast Duck This duck is special – first roasted, then simmered in a savory broth. The meat soaks up all the aroma, and it’s served with luncheon meat, duck blood, and bean sprouts. Not overly spicy – even this Cantonese girl loved it! 👍 🐸 Spicy Cold Frog Pot A seriously addictive dish – super spicy but served with a mild dipping sauce that tasted like Guilin rice noodle soup – so refreshing! The frog was tender and fragrant. Spice lovers can skip the sauce – it’s perfect as is! 🥒 Cold Cucumber Salad & Marinated Dishes The cucumber salad was crisp and refreshing – perfect with spicy dishes. The braised beef tendon and pig ear were savory and chewy – great appetizers! Every dish felt genuinely Sichuan – bold, aromatic, and full of character. Great portions, fair prices, and a cozy vibe – perfect for catching up with friends! Can’t wait to go back and try more! #SoCalEats #LAFood #SanGabrielEats #SGVFood #AutumnEats #FallFoodGoals 🥢🔥
