🏛️ Nebraska State Capitol Tour
The Nebraska State Capitol is the heart of state government in Lincoln, the capital of Nebraska. 🏢 It’s where the legislature meets, and it houses the governor’s office and other state agencies (and yes – the offices are open, they really don’t treat us like outsiders 😉). Designed in the Neo-Classical style by renowned American architect Bertram Goodhue, construction began in 1922 and was completed in 1932. The building stands 400 feet tall with three main floors and a dominating central tower that visitors can climb 🧗♂️. At the top of the 120-foot tower stands a 15-foot bronze statue representing the Spirit of Freedom 🗽. The interior is both elegant and artistic – every detail from floor to ceiling is crafted with meaning. Don’t miss the grand spiral staircase and the stunning murals depicting important events and figures from Nebraska’s history 🖼️. You can really feel the state’s culture and heritage here. Inside, you’ll also find the Nebraska Hall, a chamber topped with a magnificent mural illustrating the founding and development of the state. There’s also the Washington Room – inspired by the U.S. Capitol in D.C. – used for important meetings and ceremonies 🎩. 🎫 Free entry | No reservation needed 🕐 Open: Mon–Fri 8am–5pm, weekends with shorter hours 📍 1445 K St, Lincoln, NE 68508, USA Perfect for architecture lovers, history buffs, and anyone curious about how state government works! #Nebraska #LincolnNE #StateCapitol #StudyInUSA #USATravel #UNLincoln #NebraskaLife #AmericanHeartland
