🏛️ One of London’s Premier Art Institutions 🏛️
The Royal Academy of Arts, founded in 1768, stands as one of the UK’s most prestigious cultural organizations. Over the centuries, it has been led by a remarkable roster of artists and architects – including Joshua Reynolds, John Everett Millais, Lord Leighton, and Edwin Lutyens. Each contributed to shaping its enduring legacy. 👨🎨📜 The RA regularly hosts temporary exhibitions, and I’ve been fortunate to visit several. My personal favorite so far has been "Spain and the Hispanic World" – an immersive and beautifully curated showcase. However, it’s worth noting that exhibition tickets can be quite pricey, and some shows feel relatively small – not always the best value for money. 💸🖼️ One of the annual highlights is the Summer Exhibition – a vibrant open-submission event featuring works by both the public and Royal Academicians. I’ve visited twice over the years: one edition truly captivated me, while the other, sadly, didn’t leave a strong impression. 🎨☀️ The Academy also holds a permanent collection well worth exploring. Don’t miss masterpieces like Michelangelo’s "Taddei Tondo" and paintings by Angelica Kauffman, one of the RA’s two founding female members. Her presence marks an important step in the history of women in art. 🌸👩🎨 If you're planning a visit, I’d recommend catching the current Kiefer/Van Gogh exhibition – though you likely won’t need more than 45 minutes to fully appreciate it. Hopefully, the photos I’ve attached with this review will help you decide whether it’s your cup of tea! 📸🖼️ #RoyalAcademyOfArts #LondonArt #ArtExhibition #SummerExhibition #Michelangelo
