🍽️ Penn Chinese Food Review|Meet Harbin
📍 1508 Sansom St, Philadelphia, PA 19102 Cuisine: Northeastern Chinese | Price: ~$30–35 per person Location: Downtown Philly / Near Penn Reviews in order of photos: 🍆🥔🫑 Di San Xian (Stir-fried Eggplant, Potato & Green Pepper) – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Colorful presentation — golden potatoes, shiny eggplant, bright green peppers. Oil level was just right, flavorful without being greasy. Potato skin was a bit soft instead of crispy, but overall tasty. 🥓 Guo Bao Rou (Sweet & Sour Pork) – ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Ignore if you love strong vinegar flavor!) Very tangy — white or rice vinegar used was quite pungent and sharp. Coating was crispy and golden, meat inside tender, but vinegar seeped in too much for my taste. (Update: This is actually very authentic Harbin-style Guo Bao Rou — just not my preference. If you love sour & sharp flavors, go for it!) 🦴 Suan Cai Dun Da Gu (Pork Bone & Pickled Cabbage Soup) – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sour, savory, appetizing. Broth balanced bone flavor with tangy pickled cabbage well. Meat was fall-apart tender, though bones were small (almost no marrow). 🍖 Hong Shao Zhou Zi (Braised Pork Knuckle) – ⭐️ One star for generous portion. Hair wasn’t fully cleaned from the skin — unpleasant texture. Porky smell was noticeable, maybe from insufficient blanching or seasoning. Even with good cooking time and sauce, these issues ruined it. Four of us ate less than 1/4 — no one wanted to take leftovers. 👨🍳 Service – ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Forgot to bring water at first, but food came out quickly and staff were friendly. #PennEats #PhillyChinese #NortheasternCuisine #MeetHarbin #FoodReview #UPennLife
