🍽️ What I Ate in 4 Meals at Victoria & Nanaimo (With Recommendations)
Only three meals are pictured here—the fourth one was devoured too quickly in a hunger frenzy to snap any photos lol. 1️⃣ Victoria Pocha As a huge Korean food fan who’s tried countless spots, their braised pork knuckle (Jokbal) is hands-down the BEST I’ve ever had—way better than any K-town joints in Coquitlam. 🔥 Must-order: The melt-in-your-mouth pork with sticky-savory glaze. 10/10 would cry over it again. 2️⃣ Kuma Noodle Japan Near UVic, dubbed the "student canteen." Surprise hit: Their donburi (rice bowls) > The unagi don was life-changing—perfectly caramelized eel over fluffy rice. 👵 FYI: The sweet Japanese grandma owner speaks minimal English (basic orders are fine; deeper convos need Google Translate or Japanese). 3️⃣ Lighthouse Bistro & Pub Nanaimo’s oyster hotspot 🦪 (we skipped DIY harvesting due to time/tools). Oysters: $3.99 each (pricey but fresh). Standouts: Mussels in white wine sauce + cod fish tacos (crispy yet tender). Skip: Fried chicken (meh). 4️⃣ Uni Modern Japanese Restaurant (No pics—hangry mode) Mixed bag: Sushi: Rice fell apart, but fish was fresh. Pineapple beef skewers: Underwhelming. Dumplings: Decent save. Verdict: Edible, but wouldn’t return. 🍫 Snack intermission: Also munched on Vancouver-packed goodies + fast food. #Canada #CanadianLife #Vancouver #VancouverIsland #VictoriaEats #VictoriaBC #NanaimoFood #NanaimoTravel #RichmondBC
