❄️ Winter Hideaway🍃 The Secret Garden of Eternal Summer
📍 Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum The most astonishing thing about the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is that the entire building, along with its gardens, is housed within a massive greenhouse. 🌿🌞 While the rest of New England is buried in snow and the trees are bare, here, it feels like summer never ends. Stepping inside from the bleak winter outside, you’re greeted by lush flowers and foliage, as if you’ve entered a hidden sanctuary where gods might reside. 🌸✨ History: Isabella Stewart Gardner (1840-1924) was a renowned American art collector. She wanted to share her collection with the public, so she decided to build a museum in Boston. The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum officially opened in 1903. 🏛️🎨 Architecture & Design: Inspired by the palaces of Venice, Italy, the museum centers around an Italian Renaissance-style courtyard. 🇮🇹🌺 Collection: Gardner’s personal art collection is incredibly diverse, featuring works from Europe, Asia, and America. It includes masterpieces by artists like Titian, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Raphael, and John Singer Sargent, as well as sculptures, textiles, and decorative arts. 🖼️🗿 The 1990 Heist: Two thieves disguised as police officers broke into the museum and stole 13 artworks valued at over $500 million. Among the stolen pieces were Vermeer’s The Concert and Rembrandt’s Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee. To this day, the case remains unsolved, making it one of the largest and most mysterious art thefts in history. 🕵️♂️🔍 #HiddenGemInTheCity #Gardens #ArtMuseum #Travel #Art #Plog #Architecture #Summer #Winter #SecretGarden
