🏔️ Winter Hiking in Zion National Park (With Map & Route Tips)
We arrived at Zion at 9:00 AM (1°C) and snagged the last parking spot at The Grotto by 9:30 AM. Winter Tip: Arrive between 9:00-9:30 AM for manageable temps and parking. From Dec -Feb, shuttles are required (no self-driving on main routes). 🗺️ Recommended Winter One-Day Itinerary 1️⃣ Angels Landing (No permit beyond Scout Lookout) 🥾 *Round trip: 7.2 km | Time: 2-2.5 hrs* Steep switchbacks with minimal stairs. Rangers check permits at the chain section (beyond Scout Lookout). 2️⃣ Canyon Overlook Trail 🥾 Round trip: 1.7 km | Time: 1 hr Stairs and rocky paths with panoramic views. 🚗 Smooth Route: Enter via South Entrance → Angels Landing → Lunch → Canyon Overlook Trail → Exit East Entrance → Continue to Bryce Canyon! 🎽 Gear Recommendations Outer layer: Windproof removable insulated jacket. Footwear: Grippy hiking shoes (trails are sandy/slippery even without snow!). Layering is key—body heats up quickly during steep climbs! ⚠️ Note on The Narrows Open in winter but icy water hiking (some brave souls wear dry suits!). We skipped due to cold—better for summer visits! ❄️ #ZionNationalPark #WinterHiking #AngelsLanding #Utah #TravelTips
