🇦🇹 Wachau Valley Day Trip: Melk → Spitz → Krems

🚂 Vienna to Melk (1h Train Ride) ✔️ Pro tip: Take the direct train from Westbahnhof! We got stuck at St. Pölten due to delays (ugh, 30min wait 😩). ✔️ Melk Abbey: 🏰 Free areas: Courtyard & ground floor (great for photos!). 🎟️ Paid section (€13): Fancy library/church (no photos allowed), but the balcony views of town are chef’s kiss 🤌. ⏳ 1-hour visit (mostly spent snapping pics outside!). 🍕 Lunch Mishaps ✔️ Many restaurants seemed closed (Sunday vibes?)—ended up at a super-salty pizza spot near the abbey. Later realized others were open… facepalm. 🤦‍♀️ 🚌 Bus 715 Adventure (Free Ride?!) ✔️ Boarded at Melk pier (boats start in April 🚢). ✔️ 30min to Spitz: Passed blossoming peach orchards 🌸→ then hiked up to Spitz Castle for valley-wide vineyard views (still winter-brown though 🍂). 😅 Dunstein Drama ✔️ Tried to stop at Dürnstein at 5PM, but the bus was packed like sardines 🚌💨. ✔️ Panic move: Stayed on until Krems (next time, blue church!). 🌇 Krems Mini-Exploration ✔️ Double-decker train back to Vienna at 6:52 → squeezed in 30mins of golden-hour wandering. ✔️ Spotted: A stunning hilltop abbey (saved for next trip ✨). #WachauOnABudget #TrainHacks #FreeBusWin #CastleViews #VineyardVibes
