(On the way back, it's just one lane over.) ▫️ Peace Bridge ☮️ Closer to downtown—just 5 minutes after crossing, you’re in the heart of the city! 🏙️ 📸 Chill Sightseeing Spots Buffalo City Hall 🏛️ ▫️ Open weekdays 8:30 AM–4:30 PM. You can go up to the observation deck for a panoramic view—no entry after 4 PM! ▫️ Nearby paid parking 🅿️ Turner Ramp makes exploring downtown easy. Weekdays: $2.5/hour, Weekends: $6/day. ▫️ Right across is the McKinley Monument at Niagara Square, dedicated to the 25th U.S. President. Buffalo City Court Lafayette Square ⚖️ ▫️ A 5-minute walk straight from City Hall. Liberty Building Theater District 🎭 ▫️ Shea's Buffalo Theatre—a historic venue hosting Broadway shows and concerts. Buffalo Naval Park ⚓ Great for military history enthusiasts! 🍽️ Food Stop ▫️ We chose Anchor Bar, said to be the birthplace of Buffalo wings—when in Rome! 🍗 The classic Buffalo sauce is tangy and sweet, but it wasn’t my favorite. I preferred the Medium Hot dry-rub version—so tasty! 🌶️👍 ⚠️ Note: Dinosaur Bar-B-Que has permanently closed—don’t make a trip for nothing! 🚫 🛒 Trader Joe’s Haul 🛍️ ▫️ Stock up on goodies—a classic move for Ontarians visiting the U.S.! 🥖🍫🍷 ⛽ Fuel Up Gas is cheaper here than in Canada—fill up before heading back! ⛽💨 🇨🇦 Returning to Canada ▫️ Present valid entry documents for Canada. ▫️ They’ll ask what you bought, especially alcohol or tobacco—have your receipts ready. We spent about $100 and weren’t charged tax. 📄🛃 💰 A $6.50 CAD fee is due at re-entry. Once an exceptionally prosperous city, Buffalo thrived in the late 19th to early 20th centuries thanks to its canals and hydroelectric power from the falls. 🏗️💎 The industrial boom gave rise to grand, luxurious architecture that still stands today. Yet after te industrial era, the population plummeted sharply.
