🇨🇦 3 Days as Islanders in Newfoundland 👒

Day 1 🌊 Breakfast kicked off at Pop’s Diner, and let me tell you, the cozy American-style decor made it feel like stepping into a classic movie scene—think retro vibes and warm, welcoming energy that set the perfect tone for the day! ☕🍳 Then we followed this amazing route: Signal Hill: Wow, what a view! From here, you can take in panoramic vistas of all of St. John’s, with the colorful rooftops, bustling harbor, and distant coastline stretching out before you. It’s like having a front-row seat to the city’s beauty 🏔️🌆. Skerwink Trail: A 5-kilometer gem that’s totally worth lacing up those hiking shoes! The trail winds through stunning coastal landscapes, with some scenic but slightly uneven terrain—so sturdy hiking shoes are a must to keep you comfortable as you soak in the views. Every step feels like an adventure, with cliffs, forests, and ocean glimpses around every bend 🥾🌊. Puffin Viewing Site: Prepare to have your heart melted! This spot lets you get up close and personal with adorable puffins—those little birds with their colorful beaks are so charming, fluttering around and diving into the water. It’s a wildlife lover’s dream come true 🐧❤️. Bonavista Peninsula: We explored Dungeon Provincial Park, a UNESCO Geosite that’s pure natural wonder—think dramatic rock formations carved by the sea, creating “dungeons” where waves crash in with a thunderous roar. Then we visited Puffin Cape Bonavista Lighthouse, a picturesque lighthouse perched on the coast, with even more puffin sightings and stunning sunset views 🏞️🏰. By evening, we headed back to St. John’s, and what better way to end the day than with a sweet treat at MajesTea? This cozy bubble tea spot was the perfect pick-me-up after a day of adventure 🧋✨. Day 2 🌊 O'Brien's Whale and Bird Tours: Early morning, we set sail for a wildlife adventure, and it was incredible! We got to see tons of playful puffins darting around the boat, their little wings flapping as they chased fish. While whales were a bit shy this time (with a 50% chance, it’s all part of the thrill of nature!), the boat ride itself was magical—gliding through the ocean with the wind in our hair, surrounded by seabirds. Totally worth it for the puffins alone! 🐋🐦 Salmonier Nature Park: Next up, this lovely free wildlife park! It’s a 2.7-kilometer trail through lush forests, and we spotted several friendly residents along the way—think curious foxes, graceful deer, and maybe even a glimpse of a moose if you’re lucky! The trails are peaceful and well-marked, making it fun to wander and spot wildlife hiding among the trees 🌿🦌. St. Vincent’s Beach: A serene coastal spot where we strolled along the shore, keeping our eyes peeled for whales—local tips say you might just catch a glimpse of them offshore! The soft sand, crashing waves, and wide-open sky made it the perfect place to relax and soak in the coastal calm 🌅🐋. On the way back to town, we made plenty of stops to admire the 沿途风景 (scenic views)—rolling green hills, tiny fishing villages, and the ocean sparkling in the sun. Every detour felt like a new adventure 🌳🚗. Dinner was at New Moon, a delightful local Chinese restaurant. The flavors were authentic and comforting, with dishes that hit the spot after a day of exploring—think crispy spring rolls, savory stir-fries, and perfectly cooked rice. Yum! 🍚🥢 Day 3 🌊 Cape Spear Lighthouse National Historic Site: Our final morning was spent here, and it’s a must-visit! This iconic lighthouse is perched on Canada’s easternmost point, with sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean. The history here is fascinating—you can tour the lighthouse and imagine what life was like for lighthouse keepers years ago. The coastal breeze and the sound of waves made it a peaceful, reflective spot 🏴‍☠️🌊. After that, we wandered through the charming streets of St. John’s, popping into little shops, admiring colorful houses, and soaking in the laid-back island vibe. It was the perfect way to say goodbye to this beautiful place 🏘️💖. By evening, we boarded our flight back to Toronto, hearts full of memories from three amazing days as Newfoundland islanders 🌍✈️. #NewfoundlandDiaries #IslandLifeCanada #NewfoundlandAdventure #CanadaTravel #ExploreNewfoundland #StJohnsMemories
