A Day of City Walk in St. John’s 🌆

War Memorial & Harbourside Park This square is like a living history book, with numerous sections introducing how St. John’s was discovered by the British and Portuguese. It’s fascinating to trace the city’s roots through these displays, each detail painting a vivid picture of its early days 🏛️. The adjacent Harbourside Park adds to the charm—keep an eye out for the adorable statues of Labrador and Newfoundland dogs! These furry figures perfectly capture the warm, friendly spirit of the region, making it a great spot for photos and a moment of reflection 🐾. Jelly Bean Row Ah, the famous Jelly Bean Row! These colorful houses are a true icon of St. John’s, each painted in bright, cheerful hues that look like they’ve been plucked from a storybook 🏠🌈. The light here has a soft, gentle quality that creates a cozy, inviting atmosphere—while some might think it’s tricky to capture, we found that the subtle glow adds a unique charm to photos. For an unforgettable shot, try viewing them from the water—just like the stunning angle in our previous post’s cover! It’s a perspective that truly highlights their vibrant beauty 🌉📸. The Rooms No visit to St. John’s is complete without a trip to The Rooms, the city’s beloved local museum 🏛️✨. Head to the second floor, where the exhibition tells the poignant story of Newfoundland residents who answered Britain’s call to serve in World War I. The artifacts and narratives here are deeply moving, offering a heartfelt glimpse into their courage and sacrifice ⚔️. As you climb to the third and fourth floors, you’ll step into a world of natural wonder and indigenous heritage. From displays on Newfoundland’s rich ecosystems to insights into the daily lives of the region’s First Nations communities, there’s so much to explore. One standout? A massive 8-meter-long squid exhibit that’s both awe-inspiring and a little mysterious—definitely a highlight that sticks in your memory 🦑🌿. Shamrock City Pub After all that exploring, it’s time to refuel, and Shamrock City Pub is the perfect spot! We ordered a moose burger and fish & chips, and both were absolute winners 🍔🍟. If you’ve never tried moose meat before, you’re in for a treat—it’s similar to beef but leaner, with a rich, savory flavor that’s surprisingly delicious. And let’s talk about the fish & chips: crispy, golden batter coating flaky, fresh fish, served with perfectly seasoned fries. It’s a classic for a reason, and this pub nails it—comfort food at its finest! 🥤😋 East Coast Trail, Cobbler Path With full bellies, we felt energized for a little more adventure, and we’re so glad we checked the map—East Coast Trail’s Cobbler Path had rave reviews, and it did not disappoint! 🥾🌲 We navigated to Doran’s Lane and set off towards Red Cliff, with the trail stretching 5 kilometers in total. Since time was a bit tight, we opted for a 1.6-kilometer stroll along the scenic path, and it was just enough to soak in the beauty. The trail winds through lush greenery, with glimpses of the rugged coastline peeking through the trees. The fresh sea breeze, the sound of waves, and the stunning views of the cliffs made every step worthwhile. Even in just an hour round-trip, we felt totally refreshed and connected to nature—this hidden gem is absolutely worth adding to your itinerary 🌄💨. #StJohnsCityWalk #NewfoundlandAdventures #TravelStJohns #ExploreCanada #CoastalCharm
