πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ 5 Days & 4 Nights in Alberta Travel Diary

I went to Alberta again β€” but this time, no Banff! πŸ“… Day 1 Took an evening flight from Ottawa ✈️ to Calgary. πŸ“… Day 2 Picked up the rental car from Hertz πŸš— β€” a brand new 2025 Camry with less than 2,000 km! Drank a milkshake from Peter’s Drive-in β€” a delicious calorie bomb πŸ’£. And so the trip begins πŸ‘! First stop: the dinosaur town near Calgary. Drove about 1.5 hours to Horseshoe Canyon and Hoodoos Trail β€” such unique natural landscapes. Visited Drumheller and saw the World’s Largest Dinosaur πŸ¦–. Explored the Royal Tyrrell Museum β€” so many fossils! Stopped by The Little Church β›ͺ️ β€” there was even a wedding that day! Finished with Horsethief Canyon β€” more stunning natural views. Drove 3 hours to Edmonton and had dinner at Yun Zhi Nan β€” pretty tasty! πŸ“… Day 3 Had hotel breakfast β€” those classic hotel sausages are always so good πŸ˜‹. Visited the Alberta Legislature Building, 100 Street Funicular, Chinatown, and Muttart Conservatory 🌡 β€” all were just okay. Then went to Elk Island National Park 🦬 β€” saw bison, and only bison. Dinner at Pampa Brazilian Steakhouse β€” the meat was good πŸ₯©, but the service was messy. The servers were slicing meat everywhere πŸ˜…. After overeating, we wandered around supermarkets including Tesoro Italian Market, Save On Foods, and Freson Bros. πŸ“… Day 4 Visited West Edmonton Mall β€” it’s huge! πŸ›οΈ Ate at Paris Baguette 🍞 β€” tasted just like the bakeries back home β€” and Jollibee 🐝 (so good!). Took a drive around the University of Alberta, then headed back to Calgary. Stopped in Red Deer for the famous The Donut Mill 🍩 β€” the orange-filled donut was amazing! Drove through heavy snow ❄️ β€” saw almost 10 cars stuck in ditches along the way. Went to CrossIron Mills and had… you guessed it… more Jollibee πŸ˜‚. Our final dinner in Alberta was at Golden Dragon Hotpot 🍲, with boba that tasted just like a certain famous tea brand. πŸ“… Day 5 Last day! Spent the morning at Calgary Zoo 🐧 β€” saw penguins, polar bears πŸ»β„οΈ, and even celebrated a giraffe’s birthday πŸ¦’πŸŽ‚! We speed-ran the zoo in 3 hours πŸƒπŸ’¨ β€” saw everything, but wished we had more time. Stopped by CF Chinook Center and bought shoes β€” thanks to the 5% tax! πŸ‘Ÿ Returned the car to Hertz and flew back to Ottawa 😭. Final thoughts: Alberta isn’t really a tourist destination. I chose it because I didn’t plan ahead, and flights to Vancouver were too expensive. Next time β€” going somewhere more fun! πŸ—ΊοΈβœ¨ #Alberta #TravelCanada #Edmonton #Calgary #RoadTrip #CanadianTravel #NoBanffThisTime πŸš—πŸžοΈ
