🇨🇦 Best Restaurant I Tried on My Second Trip to Montreal!
On our way back from Quebec City to Toronto, we stopped in Montreal to try the highly-anticipated Egyptian seafood spot — Restaurant Le Canal 🦞 Since we didn’t have a reservation and it was packed on a Saturday night, we got takeout and ate in the car. And wow — it was so good that all four of us (all from Hainan!) were literally screaming with joy 😋 Especially my boyfriend’s mom, who grew up in a fishing village — she couldn’t stop raving about how fresh and flavorful everything was! How it works: You choose your seafood by type and weight at the counter, then pick your cooking style 🥄 Everything is made to order! 🌟 We ordered: Half pound fried smelts Half pound Black Tiger shrimps Whole grilled sea bass with salad and rice (Note: We’re light eaters — don’t judge 😂) All for under $60! If you’re tired of bland "white people food", come here. You won’t be disappointed! 🦐 Black Tiger Shrimps Jumbo-sized, crispy shell, firm and bouncy meat! The sauce was rich and flavorful — though we didn’t find it spicy (his mom said just a tiny bit 🌶️). 🐟 Fried Smelts Highly recommended by my boyfriend’s mom! Still crispy even when cool. Squeeze some lemon 🍋 — she kept saying, “So good! So satisfying!” 🐠 Grilled Whole Fish (Sea Bass) Pretty standard grilled fish — fresh and firm, but a bit bland inside. Probably better hot — ours had cooled down, so the skin wasn’t crispy anymore. Skip the turmeric rice — it was dry and loose. 📍 Restaurant Le Canal 4945 Boul. Saint-Jean, Pierrefonds, QC H9H 2A9 Rumor says they’re opening in Mississauga in November! ⚠️ Cons: They said takeout would take 40 mins and they’d call… but they never did. When I went back, the food was already packed but had gone cold 😡 The dine-in scene seemed chaotic — staff looked overwhelmed 😧 Still — the food itself was absolutely worth it! #LocalEats #MontrealFood #Montreal #TravelMTL #SeafoodLovers #FoodReview 🍤🐟🔥
