🇨🇦 Calgary | Still Loved It in Winter (With Recommendations!)
Visited Calgary during its warmest week this winter — around 0°C 🧊. The windy, cloudy arrival made my face freeze 🌬, but the sun came out the next day and it felt much nicer. Honestly, it wasn’t as cold as I expected (was low-key hoping for -20°C… maybe next time 😂). Snow makes everything beautiful ❄️, but the slush on the streets got a bit dirty since it wasn’t cold enough. For travel, I’d still recommend summer — sunny skies and green grass just hit different! ☀️🌿 💙💙💙 Attraction Recommendations 💙💙💙 ▫️ Calgary Tower Every city has one, right? 🗼 Great views of downtown and the Rockies. There’s a rotating restaurant (didn’t try it), but the view from the intersection below makes a nice photo 📸. ▫️ Wonderland Sculpture It’s that giant human-face statue — an iconic spot, but honestly… not much to see 😅. Still, “you’re already here,” so might as well snap a tourist pic or two. ▫️ Calgary Zoo Loved it! 🐧🐯 A pretty big zoo — saw so many animals in the summer. Definitely worth visiting (takes 2-3 hours). The penguin exhibit at the entrance is adorable! ▫️ Contemporary Calgary A quiet, compact art gallery near downtown 🎨. Has a video room perfect for introverts killing time. Go if there’s a exhibition you like. ▫️ Glenbow Museum Wanted to go, but it’s closed for renovation until 2026 🚧. Features Western culture and history — check it out in the future if you’re around! 👀 🛍️ CF Chinook Centre Shoutout to my favorite mall 🏬 — huge, modern, spacious stores, and not too crowded. Great shopping experience! 💙💙💙 Day Trips 💙💙💙 ▫️ Banff An outdoor paradise! 🏔️ Lakes and hiking in summer; skiing and hot springs in winter. Best enjoyed as a separate trip — every season has its charm. ▫️ Drumheller & the Royal Tyrrell Museum Dinosaur town 🦖 + fossil museum (you can see real labs too!). Lots of colorful dinosaur statues around — fun and educational! People who love big cities might find Calgary a bit quiet, but I really enjoyed it. Downtown is walkable with a nice pedestrian street that’s especially lovely in summer 🍃. Everything is within walking distance. Would love to come back during the Stampede! 🤠 Everyone I met was super friendly 🥰, the “white people food” was surprisingly good, shopping tax is low, and alcohol is tax-free 🍷! Everything in the city is within 30 minutes. The only con: didn’t find great Chinese food here 😹. #Calgary #ExploreCanada #WinterTravel #Alberta #CityWalk #WinterVibes ❄️🛍️🏔️
