🇨🇦 Country Girl's Food Adventure in Halifax
I've visited Halifax 5-6 times now, so here’s my rundown of Chinese restaurants I’ve tried in the city! 📍 Szechuan Restaurant ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My absolute go-to spot! 🏆 Must-tries: Hand-shredded cabbage, Mao Xue Wang, stir-fried pork with garlic sauce, braised pork trotters… I’ve never had a bad dish here! Blindly recommend! 📍 Little Fat Sheep ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ate here three times. The first time was great, but the next two were inconsistent 😕. Not my top recommendation. 📍 Modern Orchid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Heard the quality depends on whether the owner is in, but both my visits were solid! Food was delicious, and service was super friendly 😊. 📍 Banquet House ⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟 Only tried their dim sum—decent and reliable. Loved their durian puff and salt & pepper squid 🦑! 📍 9+9 ⭐️⭐️🌟 Just okay. Dry-fried green beans weren’t fully cooked, and star anise in clams was a miss for me 😬. Might try off-menu items next time! 📍 Feng Hua ⭐️⭐️🌟 Not memorable—dishes didn’t look appealing 😂, but the sesame chicken was tasty! 📍 Big Radish Fried Chicken ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10-piece wings every time! So addictive 🍗—a must for fried chicken lovers. 📍 Sugar Moon Desserts ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mango pomelo sago and fruit tea were great! Hope they speed up service next time 🥤. 📍 Duck King ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Finally tried the famous Duck King! Loved the Mao Xue Wang (but still prefer Szechuan Restaurant’s version). Also enjoyed: braised pork elbow, stir-fried assorted veggies, beef with cumin, and salt & pepper duck 🦆. The duck itself was decent but not super fragrant, and the sweet bean sauce was just okay. #Foodie #HalifaxEats #ChineseFood #ExploreHalifax #CanadianFoodScene 🥢🍲
