🇨🇦 Edmonton: Top Long Weekend Getaways (Part 1)

Couldn’t sleep last night, so I scrolled through my photo album and realized how many places I’ve visited over long weekends 😲. Since I save my PTO for bigger trips, I’ve mastered the art of the 3-4 day “quick escape” from Edmonton 🚀. About My Travel Style: 🌊 Love the ocean but hate the heat 🚗 Prefer renting cars (only use taxis in Vancouver) 🐯 Love animals → zoos, aquariums, safaris, and wildlife encounters are a must! 🍜 Foodie alert! I enjoy all cuisines — not just Chinese. Fine dining? Yes, but long weekend reservations are hard to get 😅 Places I’ve Visited on Long Weekends: Vancouver, Toronto, Victoria, Montreal, Quebec City, the Maritimes, Whitefish (Montana), Los Angeles, San Diego (may need 4 days). Next up: Newfoundland! ❤️ Favorites (will revisit): Victoria, Los Angeles, San Diego For Chinese Food Lovers: Vancouver & Toronto: Great for food, but less fun for activities. Flights are flexible though! 🇺🇸 With a U.S. visa? I prefer Los Angeles over Toronto! More fun things to do 🎢 Fresh crayfish, soft-shell turtle, frog legs (yes, this matters! 🐸) Shorter flight than Toronto ✈️ Beautiful beaches 🌴 Cons: LAX is busy — allow extra time. WestJet’s direct flight is the best option! Relaxing Getaway: Victoria Just a 1-hour flight to this beautiful island 🏝️ Charming streets, mild weather, decent food 🥐 Perfect for: sleeping in, oceanview hotel with a balcony, strolling downtown, listening to live music at festivals, Italian dinners, whale watching 🐋 Cons: flights are expensive on long weekends, and parking downtown is tricky 🅿️ Scenic & Instagrammable: Montreal Already been? Try Quebec City for 2 days + return via Montreal! Montreal has cheaper/more flight options ✈️ Quebec City = Canada’s most aesthetic place! Streets, architecture, people — all stylish 🎨 Montreal = food heaven (non-Chinese, but amazing 🍷) Fly back Monday night — you still get a full day to explore!
