🇨🇦 Edmonton: Top Long Weekend Getaways (Part 2)

Finally getting around to writing Part 2! Let’s see if I can finish this in one go 😜 Continuing with Montreal… Montreal has it all: amusement parks 🎢, French cuisine 🥖, decent Chinese food 🥡, and a safe, walkable downtown. Its architecture and culture feel completely different from Alberta’s — worth multiple visits! ✔️ Long weekend flights to Montreal can be surprisingly affordable. ✔️ Stay downtown — it’s perfect for walking (parking is tricky 🚗💨). ✔️ Rent a car to visit Omega Park — feeding elk and deer with carrots 🥕 is a blast! Highly recommend. Another Gem: Halifax I lived in Halifax for a few months years ago — and fell in love with the Maritimes 💙 ✈️ Direct red-eye flights from Edmonton mean you can sleep on the way and start exploring as soon as you arrive! ⚠️ Note: Downtown Halifax has more homeless tents these days, so be mindful. 🚗 Rent a car to explore PEI and New Brunswick too! 🌊 The waterfront is my favorite — street performers, ice cream 🍦, sea breezes, and fresh East Coast seafood 🦞… pure Maritime charm! U.S. Destinations with Direct Flights With a U.S. visa, you can also fly direct to: Seattle, Denver, Chicago, Las Vegas, San Francisco… These skyscraper-heavy cities haven’t fully captured my heart yet — but feel free to share your experiences! Hidden Gem: Kalispell, Montana 🚗 Drive from Edmonton to this border town — it’s not too far! 🛒 Montana is a tax-free state — perfect for picking up big purchases 😉 🏔️ Then unwind in Whitefish — a cozy ski resort town ⛷️ 🛒 Visit Target, Best Buy, or Costco (yes, even Albertans can enjoy a change of retail scenery!) 🌲 Don’t miss Glacier National Park nearby for hiking and fresh air 🥾 📌 Note: Tax-free pickup locations have short weekend hours — plan to leave Friday night and cross the border smoothly (usually no lines!).
