Brew and Bloom - Downtown — Restaurant in Edmonton

EDIT: Brew and Bloom reached out by responding to my review below and asking me to email. I emailed them back on June 30, 2023 and have yet to receive a response from them. I hope this isn't their way of making it appear to the people reading these reviews that they are actively doing something about a negative review when the reality is, they are not. Changed my 2 star review to a 1 star.

My first time at Brew and Bloom was such a nice experience. My wife and I went to a special Valentine's tea that was just beautiful. Today was the first time I'd been back since that first visit and I was hugely disappointed. We didn't have a reservation, which isn't the restaurant's fault, so we had to sit outside on their "patio." I use that term loosely because the view was of nothing but parked cars. Not the most pleasing view for somewhere that claims to be so "Instagramable." I'm not sure if they had their back room set up, which is where the Valentine's tea was set up, but I think it would have been a much better setting (and much cooler on such a warm day) to set aside for walk in patrons. We arrived at about 11:30 and the next available reservation wasn't until 2:15. Considering there were a ton of walk in patrons, why not set aside unreservable tables in the back area for those walk ins.

Then to top things off, we weren't offered water after we sat down (it was a really warm day and the patio is in full direct sun), we were asked to place a drink order. Our drinks arrived and then we placed a food order. My wife ordered the bacon Benedict and I ordered the avocado toast. We were asked if it was okay if we received soft poached eggs and we said yes....I mean, the whole purpose of a Benedict especially, is the soft poached eggs and the hollandaise, right?

As you can see from the picture, the eggs were hard boiled on both meals. So disappointed.

When we were offered water, it was near the end of our meal and there was no ice in the glass....did I mention it was a hot day and we were in direct sun?

Another thing that I noticed is there were a ton of cigarette butts on the ground around all the tables outside. For a place that looks so beautiful, why wouldn't they clean that up in an area they are using to seat people?

We let our server know that while the food was good, the eggs were wrong and she essentially blamed the eggs (lol) when she said "clearly we're having trouble with the eggs." So did the eggs put up a fight to being soft poached and fought with the kitchen until they agreed to hard boil them? I don't understand.

Sadly all we got was an apology and still had to pay full price for what we ordered. Even a small discount of 10% would have been welcome.

Unfortunately, after this experience, I'm not sure...

My wife and I really wanted to like this restaurant (south side location). It is lovely and I took my wife as I thought she would really enjoy the decor. Unfortunately, the restaurant turned out to be all fluff and no substance. I really tried to give it some consideration but tonight exceeded even a three strike policy. I ignored my senses to leave after the first two strikes and am regretting it.

Strike 1- 5 staff members saw us waiting and nobody came to seat us. Strike 2 -despite our server standing at the next table when we were seated, it took her 15 minutes to greet us and bring a glass of water. Strike 3 - we order appetizers and entrees. Server specifically asks if we want our appetizers before our mains. Of course I say yes. 45 minutes later I have to flag her down (while nursing my glass of wine and an empty water glass as she never came by during that time) to ask where our appetizers were (truffle fries and grilled halloumi cheese). At which point the appetizers come out at the same time as the main entrees. When I pointed this out to the manager and gave feedback, his reply was simply "oh that's a miscommunication." Strike 4 - After finishing my entree, I had to flag the server down for a takeout container for my appetizers. She never did return to the table to refill my water. Never mind potentially ordering more wine during our meal. Strike 5 - 20 minutes later I had to flag the server down again for my bill. All the while watching her stand at the bar chatting with another server and the bartenders. Strike 6 - Once again, there wasn't even an attempt by the server or manager to try to make the best of a bad situation - whether by acknowledgement or apology.... never mind making an adjustment to the bill or offering a coffee or something to sweeten a sour experience.

While the food was serviceable, I cannot recommend this establishment. Far too many other establishments with better food and much better service for the amount of money spen...

This place took my heart when i saw pictures on google when i search for cafe , so i called up them for reservation for us . Therfore after two days we went there for my daughter pre birthday bash , and requested them on phone for booth . But the moment i reached they said it is not availble right now and i agree because i was late by 20 minutes . However i said i will wait until it get vaccant and server said it will be avaible by 4 pm but it was happened before . I was happy i got the booth after 10 mins and happily dined in with my family . Now come the next thing server was cassy may be i spell her wrong but her name was cassy came to our table for order she was the only one who said i will arrange table for you but did not show up while we were waiting and said i will talk to my manager for booth because i was adamant that i want to sit there because my kids will be easily fit in that place , and when i asked for the booth they all started staring at us and make faces as in i asked for something out of box . Because according to me i love the place , decor, food thats why i decide to went there and what if i ask for booth what 'a a big deal - how can you treat your customer making weired faces and starring like i have done something very wrong . I love the food i order , also i like the quality of food taste is good everything about this cafe is upto the mark but the way their team treated was really awful and disrespecting to me and family . Last but not least there was one male supervisor i forgot his name change my drink because i did not like it , also ask if everything is fine with us and at last we took so many picture and they comprise us taking them . I must recommend this cafe for food but the way of hospitality to us was disrespectful . Later in end when i ask the supervisor about this thing he attended us gently and humbly appreciate that person . Thumbs up to...
