🇨🇦 First Time in Toronto – A Food Guide for My Mom

Last July, before my mom visited Toronto for the first time, I made a foodie guide to make sure she’d eat well here (you can still find it in my Highlights — super useful!). When she finally arrived in October, we had two weeks to eat our way through the city. We didn’t stick strictly to the plan — instead, I handpicked these 6 spots that are: 🍽️ Asian-friendly yet globally delicious 💰 Not too expensive, but not cheap either 🇨🇦 Canadian-focused with great vibes ✨ Beautiful and full of character Here’s where we went: 1️⃣ Cafe Oro Di Napoli 75 Jarvis St, Toronto Cozy family-run Italian spot with wood-fired Napoli pizza and huge seafood rice cooked in tomato sauce — so satisfying! 🔥 Keywords: Authentic Italian / Wood-fired Pizza / Seafood Rice 💵 Spent: ~$100+ 2️⃣ Rodney’s Oyster House 469 King St W, Toronto You can’t visit Canada without trying fresh oysters! 🦪 This is the go-to spot for the best oysters in the country. My inland-raised mom tried oysters for the first time — sweet, creamy, paired with Niagara white wine. Mind blown! Luckily it was $2 oyster day — total around $150. 3️⃣ Linny’s A perfect choice on Ossington Ave for steak! Just opened that week — modern fine dining vibe, incredible service, creative appetizers. And yes — you HAVE to try Canadian beef in Canada. 🥩 All steaks are sourced from Ontario farms. 💵 ~$180 for a full meal. 4️⃣ I Am A Little Spicy Crab After lots of Western food, it was time for something familiar yet special. This isn’t just any Chinese restaurant — it’s the best crab spot in Toronto 🦀 (using giant Vancouver crabs!). Black pepper, perilla, curry — all amazing. Must bring your parents here! 💵 Under $200 for a feast. 5️⃣ MSSM 154 Cumberland St, 2nd Floor, Toronto Wanted to treat mom to high-end sushi without breaking the bank. This “affordable” omakase is by Masaki Saito — a Michelin two-star master. 14 courses, 9 nigiri — incredibly delicious! 🍣 Keywords: 14-course omakase / 9 pieces of sushi 💵 $98 per person #TorontoFood #FoodieGuide #TorontoEats #EatWithMom
