🇨🇦 Halifax | After 8 Years, This Bowl of Noodles Still Has My Heart
Big appetites, rejoice! Meat lovers, celebrate! I was incredibly lucky to discover this ramen shop shortly after arriving in Halifax back in 2015, and it's been my ultimate comfort food ever since. Whenever I can't decide what to eat, my feet automatically carry me here for that perfect bowl of noodles. (My capacity has also evolved dramatically - from barely finishing half a bowl to now devouring a full serving plus half an order of fried chicken... sighs while patting stomach) 🥢 Shoyu Chashu Ramen After trying everything on the menu during my first visits, I've remained completely loyal to this dish for years. The broth has a delightful sweetness to it, the pork chunks are generously large, and the noodles have this wholesome multigrain flavor (which I like to pretend makes it healthier than regular noodles, haha!). But the real star is the onsen egg that comes with it. If you love runny eggs, their perfectly cooked soft-boiled egg is an absolute must-try! 🥢 Grilled Pork Belly Rice Bowl While I'm forever devoted to my ramen, my partner swears by this rice dish. It comes piled high with succulent grilled pork belly, fresh vegetables, tangy pickles, and something crispy for texture. The pork belly strikes that perfect sweet-salty balance, while the pickles cut through the richness beautifully. One bowl equals one very happy diner. 😋 🥢 Fried Chicken This has become our mandatory side order every visit. They actually offer a fried chicken ramen, but I can't bear to give up my chashu, so we always get a separate plate to share. Pro tip: Always eat this in-store - the takeout version just doesn't compare. The dine-in portion is generous, served with dipping sauce and a refreshing side of sweet-sour daikon radish pickles. The chicken boasts an incredibly thin yet satisfyingly crisp coating, while the pickles are perfectly balanced - never too tart or too sweet. 📝 Final Thoughts Portions here are substantial - two lighter eaters could easily share one noodle bowl. The ramen-rice-chicken combo has become our sacred ritual. If you enjoy hearty portions, meaty dishes, and slightly sweet flavors, this place is an absolute must-visit. Important note: They have unusual operating hours, so always check before you go! The restaurant gets packed during peak times, often requiring waits for both tables and service. Your best bet is arriving right when they open. 📍 Truly Tasty 6210 Quinpool Rd, Halifax, NS B3L 1A3 #HalifaxEats #HalifaxLife #HalifaxFoodie #CanadianLiving #FoodDiaries #RamenLover #ComfortFood #MustTry #FoodieHeaven #NoodleObsession 🍜🔥💯
