🇨🇦 Road Tripping Across Canada 🇨🇦—Regina Highlights 🌟

Our cross-Canada road trip brought us to Regina, and what a gem this city was! From campuses to lakes, historic buildings to museums, and amazing food—here’s all the magic we uncovered! 🚗💨 🏛️ University of Regina & Wascana Lake We’d planned to explore the university campus and its nearby man-made lake in detail, but Mother Nature had other ideas—hello, sudden windy, chilly weather! 💨❄️ We lasted just 10 minutes outdoors before diving back into the car (even the ducks 🦆 on the lake looked like they were struggling to swim against the breeze!). While the campus isn’t huge, it’s brimming with rich Indigenous cultural vibes—so special! 🌿 The lake, Wascana, also draws its name from Indigenous roots, adding to the area’s deep heritage. Next time, we’ll come back on a sunnier day to soak it all in properly! ☀️ 🏰 Saskatchewan Legislative Building Just like Ottawa’s Parliament Buildings, this stunning structure offers free visits—what a treat! 🏛️ We entered through the main door and exited via the side, timing our trip for the hourly guided tours. Pro tip: You can only enter about 10 minutes before the tour starts—no lingering in the lobby too early! After a quick security check, we grabbed our visitor badges and followed our guide through the building. 🎟️ The tour included the legislature chamber, fascinating stories about key politicians, and beautiful art exhibitions. Keep an eye on the exterior stonework—you’ll spot tiny fossils embedded in the rocks! 🦴✨ Photos with your phone are totally allowed (just no videos or snapping pics of other visitors—polite vibes only! 😊). 🔬 Royal Saskatchewan Museum This museum operates on a “pay-what-you-wish” donation system—minimum $5, but you can give more if you’re feeling generous! 💖 Floor 1 is all about dinosaurs, prehistoric animal fossils, and incredible Indigenous cultural exhibits—so educational and engaging! 🦖🌾 Upstairs, Floor 2 shines a spotlight on Saskatchewan’s current wildlife, with detailed displays of plants and animals that call the province home. (P.S. The “grassland chicken” specimen in the photos? We searched high and low for it in real life during our trip—no luck, but at least we saw it here! 🐔😂) Though it looks small from the outside, plan 2-3 hours to really dive into all the exhibits—you won’t want to rush! 👮♂️ RCMP Heritage Centre With tickets around $10+, this spot dives into the history of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, from their early days to modern tech! 🚓 The museum has interactive sections where you can try on RCMP uniforms and even solve mock detective cases—so fun! 🔍 While the historical displays are rich in detail, the interactive zones were our favorite—perfect for hands-on fun. The main exhibit area is on the first floor, and we explored it all in about an hour. Great for history buffs or anyone curious about Canada’s iconic police force! 🍛 Good Fortune Kitchen We’d seen this Hong Kong-style restaurant recommended online, and wow—it lived up to the hype! 🌟 We ordered the fish fragrant eggplant clay pot and beef brisket curry pot, and my husband declared them “authentically delicious” with that perfect “wok hei” (charred, smoky flavor) 🔥. I tried “yin yang fried rice” for the first time, and it was a delightful surprise—sweet and savory, with a perfect mix of flavors! 😋 The restaurant is cozy (small but charming!), and most orders are takeout, but we dined in. The owner was super warm and friendly, though service was a little slow since he was juggling everything alone—totally worth the wait for those huge portions! Highly recommend stopping here for a tasty meal! 💭 Final Thoughts on Saskatchewan Our biggest takeaway? This province is massively underrated as a travel destination! 🌟 Every city and park we visited was packed with unique charm—natural beauty, rich history, and cultural depth you won’t find elsewhere. It’s easily a place you could spend a week (or more!) exploring and never run out of things to do. Do yourself a favor and add Saskatchewan to your Canada bucket list—you won’t regret it! 🇨🇦❤️ #CrossCanadaRoadTrip #ReginaAdventures #SaskatchewanGem #CanadaTravel #ReginaFoodie #MuseumLovers #RoadTripDiaries 🚗🌾🍴✨
