🇨🇦 Victoria Food Journal | Baan Thai

📍 3031 Merchant Wy unit 117, Langford, BC V9B 3Y7 This Thai spot sits near Langford Westshore—and it’s a fun mix of classic and creative! The restaurant itself isn’t huge, with a long, narrow layout, but it balances traditional Thai flavors with some Americanized twists—so there’s something for both purists and casual eaters. Heads up: during peak hours, servers are swamped—you’ll probably wait a bit to flag someone down—but they’re all friendly once they get to you! 😊 ✅ Satay 💰16 These Thai chicken satay skewers are a must! There are 4 skewers, each loaded with a big chunk of chicken—and it’s grilled to perfection: tender, juicy, and with that lovely charred aroma. The chicken’s already seasoned, too—salty with a hint of curry (they must sprinkle curry powder while grilling!), and it comes with a side of peanut sauce. The sauce is rich but surprisingly light and fresh—either way, with or without dip, these are delicious! 🍢 ✅ A2 Pla Muug Tod 💰18 Crispy squid that’s so well done! It’s fried at high heat, so the batter is super crunchy and golden, while the squid inside stays tender but chewy—perfect texture. They also toss in veggies like zucchini and bell peppers, which are fried just as nicely—no greasy aftertaste at all, thanks to good oil draining. The seasoning is a zesty cumin salt, and there’s a Thai sweet chili dip on the side—two different flavors, both equally tasty! 🦑 ✅ N3 Guay Teow Kee Mao + Tofu 💰16.5+7 Drunken noodles (Thai stir-fried wide rice noodles) that hit the spot! The flavor is salty with a subtle sweetness, and there are little bits of egg stuck to the noodles that add a lovely aroma. The wide noodles are chewy but not tough—they break easily, almost like a nostalgic, comforting texture. Veggies like bell peppers and broccoli are mixed in, and they’re nice and flavorful too. We added tofu for extra—they used firm, bouncy tofu that’s just as well-seasoned (and slightly sweet!), but fair warning: the portion is small, so the extra $7 feels a bit steep. Still, totally worth it! 🍜 #Canada #CanadaFood #VancouverIsland #Victoria #Foodie #LifeSnippets #FoodTour #MyDailyLife
