🇨🇭 Bern, Switzerland’s Capital | A One-Day City Walk Route

Switzerland’s capital is Bern, also known as the "Bear City"—the origin of the name "Bern" is literally "bear" 🐻. This is a city you can wander through at a leisurely pace, no rush at all. It’s cozy, beautiful, and feels steeped in time. My route: Bern Train Station → Einstein House → Bern Cathedral → Bear Pit → Rose Garden Bern Train Station After getting off, head straight onto the main street—you’ll spot the Big Clock (Zytglogge) not far away. Alternatively, take a short bus ride directly to Einstein House. 🚉 Einstein House It’s right on the main street, with a quite steep staircase leading up. The former residence isn’t large, but it displays Einstein’s life story and his daily life with his wife. You can tell he was a simple, quirky old man! I seriously left a message for him, hoping to borrow a little of his wisdom and his cheerful smile! 😊 Right downstairs from Einstein House, there are many small shops selling fridge magnets—great for browsing and picking up souvenirs. Wander along the street, and you’ll find lots of street fountains, plus some cafés and restaurants. I even spotted a few cellar bars, though they weren’t open yet in the afternoon. 🥤 Bern Cathedral A short walk from the house, you’ll see the cathedral’s lawn—so many people were there enjoying the grass and sunshine. Bern Cathedral’s decorations are stunning, with exquisite architecture and stained glass. It’s also the tallest church in all of Switzerland! ⛪️ Aare River & Bear Pit Keep going, and you’ll see the Aare River looping around the city. From the bridge, you can gaze at the old town—it’s incredibly tranquil, and I stood there daydreaming for a while. Turn right after crossing the bridge, and you’ll reach the Bear Pit. No tickets needed, and you can see lots of bears! I even watched two bears fight—the one that lost ended up facing the stone wall, looking "heartbroken" (haha). 🐻💧 Rose Garden The highlight of this city walk! The Rose Garden sits on a high spot in the old town. I arrived just at dusk, and the sun was casting light over the old town—it was so beautiful it took my breath away. 🌇 #Switzerland #SwitzerlandTravel #Bern #CityWalk #Einstein #EinsteinHouse #BernCathedral #BernRoseGarden
