🇩🇪 Around Munich ~ Sunny Day at Eibsee

Eibsee is located in the Zugspitze scenic area. On sunny days, you can enjoy stunning views here all year round. Route: Take the train from Munich to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Note: 1️⃣ The train splits into sections with different destinations. The front section goes to Garmisch — if you board the wrong section, you can switch at intermediate stations. 2️⃣ During peak seasons and holidays, arrive 20-30 minutes early to secure a seat. Otherwise, you might be standing the whole way! At Garmisch station, exit and take Bus 9840 from opposite Burger King (left side): 1️⃣ Departures are at :14 every hour. During peak season, the last stop often gets crowded 😅 — today we were stuck in traffic for about 40 minutes. If you’re told to get off one stop early and walk, it’ll take around 40 minutes too. (Without the Deutsche Bahn €58 ticket, you can also take the cogwheel train — no traffic jams!) 2️⃣ Return buses depart at :10 every hour. Arrive early again — the bus usually parks near the front of the waiting area (where there’s a hotel 🅿️ sign). If you’re late, you might have to stand on the way back. Once off the bus, hurry to the train — many people run 🏃 because seats are in high demand! 😂 3️⃣ Deutsche Bahn passes are accepted; Bayern tickets are not. Hiking Route: A full loop around the lake takes about 2 hours. The most beautiful spots are at the start and end — if short on time, you don’t need to complete the full circle. The path is well-maintained and suitable for kids 🧒, dogs 🐶, strollers, and bikes 🚲. At the beginning of the trail, you’ll find a Biergarten, a snack kiosk, boat rentals 🚣, and in summer, an ice cream shop 🍦. There’s also a paid toilet — if you’d rather not pay or wait in line, it’s best to use the restroom on the train beforehand. There are no other toilets along the trail! You’ll meet both friendly and quiet hikers along the way. While I was checking my photos after taking some shots, an outgoing older cyclist yelled, “So, happy with your pics?” 😂 So on a sunny day, pack some snacks and drinks and just chill by the lake — it’s totally worth it! 🧺☀️ #Germany #NatureBeauty #NoFilterTravel #ExploreGermany #Bayern #Munich #VisitMunich
